| Here we have a very special and rare Edison Diamond disc record. It has been in storage in a museum for over 75 years. The condition is unplayed and the grooves shine brightly!These were a custom pressing and each record states "SPECIAL RECORD FOR MR. HENRY FORD". They have no regular record release number. The title of this one is "Heel and Toe Polka" and Seaside Polka"
Here is the story of how these records came about: When Henry Ford was a young man, his idol was Thomas Edison. Ford went to work at one of Edison's plants and finally was introducted to Edison in 1896. Edison listened to Ford describe the car he was working on and when Ford finished Edison slammed his fist on the table and stated "Young man, that's the thing. You have it!". Ford never forgot those words and thus started a 35 year friendship. In 1924 Ford had make this millions and enjoyed camping with Edison and even had his summer home next to his! Ford asked his friend to record some of his favorite tunes and they pressed a small number for Ford to enjoy and distribute to schools. These have been stored for over 75 years. Each record comes with the original sleeve that states:"A product of the Edison Labratories". It also comes with a write up of the story of Edison and Ford-great for framing.
