Description

ALL RIGHTY...the day has finally come.  My father has owned this record for over 20 years and treated it like a child.  I never thought I would see this day, but he has decided to sell his cherished copy of "The Caine Mutiny", the real deal, LOC-1013 released without authorization and then pulled off the shelves, only a few survived.  This is one of them.  And the jacket is in beautiful condition.  The record itself has been played and is in VG condition, but as the true collector's know, the value lies in the jacket.  The following is my father's write-up in his own words:

"I've decided to begin selling my soundtrack collection, and to prove to myself that I'm serious, the first item to be sold will be "The Caine Mutiny" (Original issue of course).  Regarding the record and jacket:  The jacket face (which is where the value is in my opinion, consider the Beatles "Butcher Cover" for example) is in very fine condition with no wear ring.  There are are a couple of minute (and I mean minute) wear spots.  The jacket seam had a couple of splits which have been very well repaired.  The back of the jacket has some aging, but no wear.  The record itself has been well played and is in VG condition.  There are a couple of nicks on the record label, which is green as the original issue was, a mistake by RCA.  Now is your chance to own a piece of history with only a few copies of this record known to exist."

As you can see by the pictures, the jacket is in pretty incredible condition.  There is no noticeable ring wear.  In fact, as far as we know, this one is in the best condition of any copies sold in "recent" memory.  Please do not freak out...I will be posting more pictures BY TUESDAY EVENING, including the record and other angles.   I may have to put together some kind of picture package that I can email to serious inquiries.  I am not a computer geek, I'll do my best to get you as clear of an idea of the quality as I can.

ONLY FORMS OF PAYMENT ACCEPTED WILL BE A MONEY ORDER, OR A PERSONAL CHECK (in which there will be a delay until funds clear).   These are the only options.

Shipping will be dealt with when contact is made with the winner.  Obviously we will find some way of getting it from Portland to wherever you are safely.

I really don't know what else to say as I am sure there are going to be a lot of questions on this.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not email me with questions such as "how much is the reserve", or "will you accept Paypal", or "will you end the auction early"...you will not get a response.  This is a 7 day auction meant to "ride out".  If you are serious about buying this item, do not hesitate to ask important questions...my father is the utmost professional in this field and is highly regarded, but he is also very private and not looking for the attention.  I will be handling all correspondence between now and when things narrow down a bit.  The winner will truly have a historical gem in their possession.  Thanks, and good luck to all of you out there!

ADDED TUESDAY MARCH 13 -

Hello all, I was only able to upload 2 more pictures to this page...I was not able to replace original posted pics with new ones.  I included shots of both sides of the record.  As described, the record is in VG condition, and the dialogue side is in better condition.  The label on the music side has a few marks on it from errant shots at the turntable...take a close look and you will see them.  The dialogue side once again is in excellent condition.  I just went over and took these pictures, and took a few pics of the edges.  As you can see in the original pics posted, the spine is in incredible condition.  I would have included these pics, but the top and bottom have had the splits professionally repaired very well.  I did not take any more pics of the back of the jacket as I think it is pretty clear in the original pictures that it is in great shape.  If you are a serious bidder and need a few more pics, shoot me an email and let me know.  My father included the following as well:  If the record sells,  I will ship it in a wood box (record size) for safety.  The buyer will pay shipping and insurance, and of course, the story of this record (...and it is interesting) will be passed on to the buyer.

ALSO:  Please remember that the only forms of payment accepted are money orders and US personal checks which will obviously need funds verification before the record is shipped.  Thanks again everyone...and happy bidding.
