Description

This has been in the private collection of a JRR Tolkien enthusiast for years & kept enclosed in plastic.  All original pieces included in this extremely rare find.  This fantastic set includes 4 LP Vinyls, if purchased individually of this quality would easily cost over $400.

Description of Contents: 

  • Outer Sleeve for all 4 records (green hardcover)
  • Record 1 J.R.R. Tolkien "The Silmarillion of Beren and Luthien" Read by Christopher Tolkien.
  • Record 2 J.R.R. Tolkien reads and sings excerpts from  "The Hobbit" and "The Fellowship of the Ring" 
  • Record 3 J.R.R. Tolkien reads and sings excerpts from "The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King" 
  • Record 4 J.R.R. Tolkien Poems and Songs of "Middle Earth" Tolkien reads in English and Elvish & "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil"
  • Full size map of Beleriand and the lands of the north 

It appears from the impeccable overall condition that these have only been played less than a handful of times at the most.  One could only imagine it is truly fascinating to listen to these works, hearing the actual voice of Tolkien (and his son Christopher Tolkien) reading and singing excerpts from their works with their "intention" of what they have written, not another person's interpretation of their works.

Condition: I'm not a professional collector however in my opinion these records are in impeccable condition as well as their sleeves being in excellent condition.  The album covers (sleeves) have been protected by the hardcover box thus minimal wear because they have been continually protected. The poster which is folded inside the hardcover box, is pristine, with no fades and no tears. The green hardcover box does have slight shelf ware (see photo) however it too was kept in plastic.
