 VG+ - The Numbered Sticker is in excellent condition, The Sunburst CBS sleeve is has some creasing to bottom right corner and some  minor shelfware.( see photos)

DESCRIPTION: 

This is the Holy Grail for U2 collectors the world over.

An Original U2 Three first pressing from October 1979. The first pressing was limited to

Only 1,000 copies, all individually numbered in either blue or black ink. All were sold or given away

In Ireland by members of the band. This is # 753 of 1000.(see photos)

This copy was acquired from a U2 fan who  bought it on release in 1979 in Golden Discs in Ireland.

The price sticker is still on the cover (£1.79!!!) He said he never played it. (Please see gradings above for further details). 

This record is extremely rare and its only the second copy I've had for sale in over 20 years in the record trade.

I have playtested the record for the purposes of this auction and can contest it played to Mint standard.

Key notes to  differentiate first issue pressings:

• CBS Sleeve with hand numbered sticker
• Ireland is spelled correctly on label (later pressings are misspelled (Irelnad) )
• Made in England on the bottom of label
• Band name is spelled "U-2" on labels. 
• Stereo is written with just the first letter big.
• No CBS inc. on bottom of label
• Sticker hand numbered by Jackie Hayden in either Black or Blue ink.
• Band members names inscribed on both sides of the vinyl in the dead wax
• Line-up and producer credits do not appear on release.

Records will include a polythene plastic sleeve. Records will be taken  from sleeve and 

packaged separately to prevent cover damage in transit.

GRADING:

All records are play tested for sound quality.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. 

The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. 

Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, 

despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, 

without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some 

distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
