| The Velvet Underground 45 MGM VU-1, mono, 1969. Incredibly rare radio promo 45 for the 3rd Velvet Underground album.
Side 1: VU-1 SIDE-1 Side 2: VU-1-SIDE-2
Yellow M-G-M label, "SPECIAL DISC JOCKEY RECORD", "NOT FOR SALE".
Both sides offer a radio ad for the third Velvet Underground album, read by Bill 'Rosko' Mercer with excerpts of I'm Set Free, What Goes On and Beginning To See The Light. The picture sleeve has a photograph by Billy
Name (same as on third LP front cover, but with the Bazaar magazine
unretouched). One of the rarest picture sleeves ever issued. I got this record from my dad who worked at a college radio station in 1969 when they received this promo. Probably only ever played two or three times ever. The record itself is in great shape with very light scuffing that does not affect play. I would grade it a strong VG+. The picture sleeve is in good shape. As you can see in the first scan of the front of the sleeve, there is visible ring wear and a small date stamp that says "May 9 1969". Probably a stamp from the radio station when they received it. Also, inthe middle of the right hand side there is small split seam of about 2.5" . I would grade the sleeve VG. I have included scans of both the A and B record labels, which are the same for both sides. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Please disregard the media mail option.
