The Velvet Underground & Nico 11-track Mono gatefold edition LP released on Verve Records (V-5008), 1967 (East Coast pressing). This is a beautiful copy of the Velvet Underground's debut album, with the iconic Andy Warhol-designed cover. The original banana sticker is still intact, and comes with the original Verve label inner paper sleeve.

This copy also has the original and very rare recalled 'Torso' lp cover. When the album was first issued, the main back cover photo (taken at an Exploding Plastic Inevitable performance) featured an image of actor Eric Emerson from one of Warhol's films projected upside-down on the wall behind the band. Emerson threatened to sue over this unauthorized use of his image, unless he was paid. Rather than complying, MGM recalled copies of the album and halted its distribution until Emerson's image could be airbrushed from the photo on subsequent pressings. Copies that had already been printed were sold with a large black sticker covering the actor's image.

In case you recognize this aution from a prior listing it's beacuse I had this LP listed about 1 month ago, but the high bidder did not honor his high bid and second high bidder was no longer interested.. So, here it is listed again. Please serious bidders only. Thank you.

Cover Grading: All seams and edges are in excellent condition (see photos) with just the upper edge of the gatefold showing a little rough spot(see pic). The lower-right corner is slightly wrinkled (see detail photo). The cover is beginning to show some slight surface wear from being stored against other records, but it's in beautiful shape.

Vinyl Grading: Vinyl is in beautiful condition, still has it's original luster. There are just a few very light, inaudible surface marks that look like they are from sliding the record in and out of the inner paper sleeve. Grading: cover VG++/ vinyl VG++. Satisfaction guaranteed - If buyer is unhappy with the condition of this record or feels I have mis-graded this item I would be more that happy accept a return for a refund.
