The Bell Boys
I Don't Want To Lose You / Woman I Love
Jamar Records #J-31968-729 & #J-31968-223
(1968)

Playing Surface: Visually graded, VG+ (EX) to VG++ (EX+) depending on opinion, with only very light and minor touches of top surface scuffing and marks mostly visible under close inspection. Videos of both sides playing are provided! This was done using a small digital camera with raw audio recorded with its microphone only, playing on a much older Fisher MC-4020C turntable using a Pickering V-15/AT-2 stylus. Both tracks play very clean, very strong music, any surface noise is practically nonexistent through the entire length of the tracks, just some normal pops and cracks on the groove guard and deadwax! VG+ (EX) sound at the very least, if not better. As sound quality can vary with different players and styluses, there is no guarantee it will play the same on different players, but I am using a pretty low-tech setup here, so unless you have a real terrible player, then it should sound just as good or better.
Labels: VG to VG+ (EX) A-side label depending on opinion / G+ (VG-) to VG B-side label depending on opinion, with some old staining from a sticker, touches of paper damage within this area. See the photos for help determining the condition of the labels!

It is stored inside a plastic sleeve and old heavy paper sleeve as shown.

All records are visually graded strictly on the Goldmine Standard (shown below), unless stated they have been play tested. Virtually all methods currently in use for the grading of records, is based in some way, shape, or form, on this system first developed by Goldmine. I have provided the shortened version given on Goldmine's website, but if you would like the view the full version given in their guide books, this can be viewed on the Record Collectors Guild website.

To help simplify descriptions, if there are any marks deep enough to feel on the records playing surface or damage to the labels, inner sleeves or covers, then those are the only exceptions that will be mentioned! Otherwise, whatever overall grade they are given does fit into the criteria for that grade on Goldmine's grading scale!

I will play test upon request as long as it is within reason, please do not ask me to play test lots, I do not have a lifetime to listen to all these again. Yes I do actually have a record player and have been a collector for many years myself, but am parting with the majority of them now. All records are given a light cleaning by hand to help further protect them and improve sound quality, I do not have any high tech gadgets, additional deeper cleaning will likely improve sound quality even more. Although I am not a huge seller, I have been predominantly dealing in records through eBay for nearly 12 years now, if concerned about my ability to grade accurately, please take a moment to view the feedback.

MINT (M)
These are absolutely perfect in every way.

NEAR MINT or MINT MINUS (NM OR M-)
A good description of a NM record is “it looks like it just came from a retail store and it was opened for the first time. In other words, it’s nearly perfect. NM records are shiny, with no visible defects. Writing, stickers or other markings cannot appear on the label, nor can any “spindle marks” from someone trying to blindly put the record on the turntable. Major factory defects also must be absent. NM covers are free of creases, ring wear and seam splits of any kind.

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) or EXCELLENT (EX)
Sometimes called VG++ or EX+, if it is towards the high end of the grade! VG+ records may show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK, too, such as telltalemarks around the center hole, but repeated playing has not misshapen the hole. There may be some very light ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. VG+ covers should have only minor wear. A VG+ cover might have some very minor seam wear or a split (less than one inch long) at the bottom, the most vulnerable location. Also, a VG+ cover may have some defacing, such as a cut-out marking. Covers with cut-out markings can never be considered Near Mint.

VERY GOOD (VG)
Many of the imperfections found on a VG+ record are more obvious on a VG record. VG records have more obvious flaws than their counterparts in better shape. They lack most of the original gloss found on factory-fresh records. Groove wear is evident on sight, as are light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail. Minor writing, tape or a sticker can detract from the label. VG covers will have many signs of human handling. Ring wear in the middle or along the edges of the cover where the edge of a record would reside, is obvious, though not overwhelming. Some more creases might be visible. Seam splitting will be more obvious; it may appear on all three sides. Someone might have written or it or stamped a price tag on it, too.

GOOD
As similar with VG++ (EX+), G+ (VG-) will be used if it is towards the high end of the grade! Good does not mean bad! The record still plays through without skipping, so it can serve as filler until something better comes along. But it has significant surface noise and groove wear, and the label is worn, with significant ring wear, heavy writing, or obvious damage caused by someone trying to remove tape or stickers and failing miserably. A Good to VG– cover has ring wear to the point of distraction, has seam splits obvious on sight and may have even heavier writing, such as, for example, huge radio station letters written across the front to deter theft.

POOR (P)
Poor records most likely end up going in the trash. Records are cracked, impossibly warped, or skip and/or repeat when an attempt is made to play them. Covers are so heavily damaged that you almost want to cry.
