THE SMITHS – FULLY SIGNED 1984 UK WHITE LABEL PROMO COPY OF DEBUT LP ‘THE SMITHS’

You are about to bid on the holy grail of UK indie albums; a very rare fully autographed copy of the classic debut album by The Smiths. It is the original white label promo pressing obtained pre-release from within Rough Trade UK in the early 1980's.  Clearly signed by all band members. Disc has never been played so is probably Nr Mint with no marks and a clean glass-like sheen. Sleeve is in Excellent++ condition. Disc housed in separate white inner, also includes orig. pic/lyric inner. This is a fully genuine signed pre-release white label promo copy of The Smiths debut LP. No reserve and a $3 start, you will not get another shot at it, so whoever wins this is going to be very very lucky.  Insured shipping only for this record.

This along with my entire record collection recently moved with me from London to Australia, I will be selling a large part of it off over the coming weeks/months. This will include many many rare UK punk/indie/alternative demo's/test pressings/promos etc & maybe one or two other signed items if I can stand to part with them.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING!

I am now based in Australia, so all my records will now be shipped from here. Regardless of what eBay states, postage is not free. I will accept international payments via paypal only. You will have 5 days from the end of the auction to make the payment. If payment is not received by this time then a non paying bidder report will be submitted to eBay and the item will be re-listed. Can’t make it any clearer than that.

There will be plenty more very serious indie/punk/alternative vinyl coming your way over the next year or so, so if you are a genuine bidder you are welcome, if however you are just going to waste my time & mess me about DO NOT BID! You will be reported to eBay as a non paying bidder and probably banned.

POSTAGE RATES:

As mentioned above eBay seems to think that I still live in the UK and applies my local postage rate (which is bizarrely now 0.00GBP to the UK bidders) and then charges international postage for Australian bidders which is just plenty effin stupid as I am registered as an Australian user.

WAIT FOR ME TO SEND YOU AN INVOICE WITH ADJUSTED POSTAGE BEFORE PAYING!! Please DO NOT send me payments with the incorrect postage. If you do I will deny your  payment and invoice you again.

Postage: Worldwide flat-rate by Air to UK, USA & anywhere else that isn’t Australia
 7”EP: 8 GBP
12”LP: 20 GBP

Postage: Australia-wide

 7”EP: 4 GBP
12”LP: 8.50 GBP

If you don't agree with these rates DO NOT BID.

If your total winnings go over 50.00 GBP you MUST pay an additional fee for the REGISTERED service that provides tracking and delivery confirmation. Due to the high number of packets “going missing” or scum buyers taking advantage of seller unfriendly paypal policies, this is non negotiable!

And just so that it is clear: All items are sent from Australia.

I will combine postage for multiple items and make sure all records are packaged to withstand idiot baggage handlers playing football with them, ie they will reach you just in the condition you see them now. If ANY these terms are unacceptable please go bid on some other schmuks's records and not mine.

I have been asked to give a little more background in this item so here goes… This is one of 2 that comes from a good friend who worked in Rough Trade from ‘83 to ‘86 and who now presides over another <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />UK based indie label. A small pile of these were signed by the whole band once the promos were cut & given out by Geoff Travis to staff members & anyone who happened to come into the shop on the day they were left there and Geoff & Jeanette deemed fit to give or sell one. They went like hot cakes as the band had gained a large underground following due to the 3 singles released before the album (and the much-missed John Peel’s praise of course). I have two copies & can guarantee with certainty that both are 100% genuine and have been well looked after since they were given to me. I don’t have much signed vinyl or memorabilia because I will not even consider it if (a) I have not had it signed myself or (b) cannot 100% guarantee it is genuine. This is as genuine as it comes & has passed through just 4 hands; The Smiths>Geoff Travis>Good Friend (RT employee)>Me and that’s it. It is the real deal - I wouldn’t own it if it wasn’t. I'd be happy to answer any other Q's you have to the best of my ability. There is no COA as they are not worth the paper they are written on, I think the history on this is far more important that a piece of photocopied paper. Phew - hope that all helps. Items such as this are very rarely, if ever available to the market. Don’t miss this opportunity, Good Luck!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
