THE RECORD OF SINGING VOLUME 1 EMI/ HMV SET # RLS 724 (12 RECORD SET)
RARE IS A WORD COMMONLY TOSSED AROUND ON EBAY TO SELL A GREAT MANY THINGS THAT ARE NOT RARE BUT THIS TRULY IS A RARE SET. ISSUED IN 1977 BY EMI-REPORTED TO ONLY HAVE ISSUED 500 SUCH SETS, MOST OF THEM IN ENGLAND, AND OF THOSE, MOST ENDED UP IN LIBRARIES OR IN THE HANDS OF COLLECTORS. THIS SET HAS NEVER BEEN ISSUED ON CD, AND MOST LIKEY WILL NOT. THIS VOLUME CHRONICLES THE EARLIEST OF DOCUMENTED SINGING ON RECORDS FROM 1899 WITH ELLEN BEACH YAW SINGING ARIAS OF AUBER, PAER, AND MEYERBEER TO 1916 WITH EMY DESTINN SINGING SMETENA AND LISZT.
THE SET IS BROKEN DOWN INTO VOCAL RANGES AND NATIONALITIES. INCLUDED IS MICHAEL SCOTT'S 256 PAGE BOOK, "THE RECORD OF SINGING", WHICH IN ITSELF IS SOUGHT AFTER. THE CHAPTERS BELOW MATCH THE CHAPTERS ON THE LPS PRECISELY:
