THE BEATLES - "THE SINGLES COLLECTIONS" - FIRST FOUR BOX SETS - FANTASTIC CONDITION
I'm down-sizing my Record Collection so this is an amazing one-off opportunity to kick start or add to your Beatles Collection with the FIRST FOUR Box Sets of the Beatles SINGLE COLLECTIONs

FIRST BOX SET

The Beatles - The Singles Collection 1962 - 1970
The "Singles Collection 1962–1970" is a series of reissued singles by the Beatles. It was released in Britain on 5 March 1976 by EMI following the expiration of the Beatles' contract with the company in January, and close to six years after the band's break up. The collection comprises all 22 of the Beatles' UK singles, which were originally issued between October 1962 and March 1970 on either the Parlophone or Apple record labels, together with a new single pairing "Yesterday" with "I Should Have Known Better".
Each of the discs in the 1976 collection was packaged in a green and black sleeve, on one side of which was a photo of the group from a period roughly from the same time as the single. The records were available in a matching Green and Black Singles Collection 1962–1970 box to customers who bought all 23 of the discs. As the retailer was selling these records, and not World Records, for this reason there is no 4-page leaflet or guarantee that came with later releases of the Singles Box Set from "World Records".
This first Green/Black boxed set is now quite rare and doesn't come up for sale very often, and certainly not in this great condition.

The box is in a remarkable condition for its age. It has some surface, edge and corner wear commensurate with its age and there is some mild staining on the top lid from the use of sellotape at some time. There is also a missing internal white flap at the top and bottom of the box.
Otherwise, the box is strong and secure and in very good condition for its age. (See photos)

SECOND BOX SET

The Beatles Collection
(The Twenty-four Original Beatles Singles 1962 - 1970)
During the autumn of 1977, EMI's mail order subsidiary, World Records, released a new boxed set entitled 'The Beatles Collection' of the 24 singles from 'Love Me Do' to 'Back in the USSR', available by mail order only, and not through the usual retail outlets. The 24 singles were in the same green sleeves as the March 1976 re-releases, and packaged in a special gold embossed box. Unlike future box sets that were packaged in the blue boxes, The Beatles Collection does not have a special catalogue number. This box set was deleted from the World Records catalogue in 1981.

Then, following the release of 'Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band/With a Little Help from my Friends', plus 'A day in the Life'  as a single in October 1978, World Records, released a new version of the boxed set entitled 'The Beatles Collection'. This is the rarer Box Set as it contains 25 singles. The new Box Set came with two leaflets. The first was the same four-page leaflet that came with the Second Box Set. The new single page leaflet was headed 'NOW the Twenty-Five Beatles Singles 1962-1978'.

The 25 singles were in the same green sleeves, and packaged in the same special gold embossed box as the Second Box Set.

Vinyl LP Record Grading

Code

Meaning

Record Grading

Album Sleeve Grading

S

Sealed

The record is still packed

The record is still packed

M

Mint

The record is in brand new condition, absolutely perfect. Certainly never played, possibly even still sealed. Should be used sparingly as a grade, if at all.

Cover and extra documents like lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition

NM

Near Mint

Describes an almost mint record, this grade is used for records that appear virtually flawless but not perfect. A very minor scuff can appear on the record. Yet, the record must play without any noise over the flaw and the latter must be very hard to detect. Any blemish affecting sound quality will prevent records from being graded NM or M.

The cover should look close to perfect with only minor signs of wear and or age. Minor impressions to the cover (due to the outer edge of the record resting inside) may be acceptable. It has no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same is true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves, and the like. Basically, Near Mint looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap.

VG+

Very Good +

Most common condition for records. The record has been played a few times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality. May have some very light surface noise or isolated crackles and pops. Some slight signs of wear, occasional light marks and scuffs. The average person would not notice anything wrong. Labels may be marked lightly.

Cover shows some handling imperfection like normal wear and tear, price tag, creasing. Minor ring wear, moderate wear to edges and corners. Cover can also be in mint condition but there is a DJ or promo copy stamp or cut in the corner.

VG

Very Good

Now the signs of age and handling are starting to show. You can notice some clear wear on the surface. Some scratches that may cause clicks, crackles or pops. There may be minor warps and skips. Labels may be marked.

Cover suffers from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration. Cover will have ring wear.

G

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has been noticeably deteriorated. Likely to be lots of minor scratches and scuffs. Potential label marks and damage.

The cover and contents can be torn, stained and/or defaced, there also can be some writing on it

F/P

Fair/Poor

The record does not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc, Unless it is something very rare it is not worth listing in this condition

The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing. Cover can also be missing
