| Certain dubs soundmans will hold till the end of a dance to bury the next sound. These are called dubplates, they are very rare unreleased tracks and exclusive to soundman alone. This auction if for a dubplate called Shashamane by Sister Rasheda.
SIDE A; vocal
SIDE B; dub
In 1979 Sister Rashedas voice could be heard from the speakers in sound system sessions. The same determined curiousity, that had lead her from those initial glimpses of Jah Shaka’s speaker boxes to become a regular sound system follower.
Quote by Sister Rasheda;
“I heard that this man was up in his studio making music. A friend took me there to meet him. As soon as I arrived he put on a tune and I sang something I’d be singing to myself for a few days before. I was reading books about shashamane and the vibes of His Imperial Majesty in my levity were strong. When I got to his studio the music was appropriate for me to express what I was feeling. That was the first time I recorded and the song was called Shashamane”
The producer was Ras Muffet and the song was Shashamane. It is a dubplate with an incredibly enduring popularity amongst sound system followers and it still gets a rapturous response when played in a dance in 2007. An amazing achievement for a first recording.
