THE SCRAPYARD

RECIPROCAL RUMBAS

1968 UK ABBEY MONO APR-168

ML + 063 + A + 1US

ML + 063 + B + 1US

Here is a impossibly rare never see original 1968 uk privately pressed psych-folk album with original folded lyric insert. I have had this album for many years, i have been waiting for another copy to surface to see what kind of price it would sell for, but i have never ever seen or even heard of another copy being offered for sale, there are no copies listed at Popsike and even using Google i can find no mention of this album at all, so i'm guessing that the pressing quantity was extremely tiny and that only a handful of people know of it's existence. Most privately pressed albums from the era have no real musical worth and are very weak efforts, but this album by 'Scrapyard' has some really excellent sounding acid-folk-psych songs. So this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to pick up one of the most elusive and rarest uk privately pressed albums from the late 60s early 70s.

Side one has a couple of pretty good tracks, but side two is a excellent mixture of acid-folk, psych and pop-sike with a touch of jazz & classical and also a little bit of beat/rock'n'roll at the end. The first track on side two is called 'Bert', this song starts off quiet and slow and does not sound too promising at first, but you really need to keep listening as after around 50 seconds the lead guitar, bass and drums kick-in to produce the heaviest track on the album, the track has some really excellent electric guitar work and the song almost sounds punky at times. The next track is a brilliant haunting female vocals acid-folk song called 'The Selling Of James', the singing and lyrics are superb on this track, the following song is pleasant male vocal whimsical pop-sike effort. With this listing i have included 7 complete MP3s of some of the more interesting sounding album tracks, these were taken directly from the actual album for sale, please listen to them and decide for yourself if this album has any musical worth, i certainly think it does. All pictures are of the actual album for sale. Please Check out my other items!

CONDITION

The very thick mono vinyl is visually in VG++to EX clean condition, both sides have a really nice original sheen, there are just a couple of very small light top surface scuffs/marks and the odd very fine hairline, there are no nasty marks or scratches but both sides play with some noticeable background crackle and some light sporadic tics, this surface noise is either caused by the pressing quality or by a build up of dirt and grime in the grooves, either way, a professional deep wet/dry vacuum clean would do this album the world of good. The textured labels are in excellent very clean condition and look as good as new. The fully laminated single sleeve was made and printed in the uk by 'West Brothers, Printers Ltd'. The front and back are very good+, there is a small amount of creasing and the odd small mark and just a little age discolouration, at the front and back top edge there is a narrow band of yellowing, this was caused by the removal of some clear tape, this yellowing may be able to be removed with the correct solution. This cover has no splits or any other bad defects and so still looks close to excellent. The original folded lyric insert is in very good condition with just a few small marks on the back page. This is a very nice copy of this never seen before 1968 uk private pressing.
