NM (near mint):   Clean but opened. No marks.

NM-: Almost NM. There may be a small number of very light, non-sounding wispy sleeve marks.

Ex+: A few marks, which will either cause ticks or background noise

Ex:   Even more marks, many of which are deep and will cause lots of ticks and surface noise.  Only used for rare records

VG:   A lot of marks, the record would have to be very rare to warrant listing.  Please do not use good and valuable cartridges to play this type of record.
