There have been so few vinyl LPs produced over the last 5 years that you should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings and disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. This causes prices to skyrocket because once they are gone, they are gone forever! Don't second-guess yourself with this chance to upgrade your collection because before you know it, the opportunity will have passed forever.

Blind by age 7 and an orphan at 15, the gifted pianist and saxophonist spent his life shattering any notion of musical categories and defying easy definition. One of the first artists to record the “blasphemous idea of taking gospel songs and putting the devil’s words to them,” as legendary producer Jerry Wexler once said, Charles’ music spanned soul, rock ’n’ roll, R&B, country, jazz, big band and blues.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

He put his stamp on it all with a deep, warm voice roughened by heartbreak from a hardscrabble childhood in the segregated South. Smiling and swaying behind the piano, grunts and moans peppering his songs, Charles’ appeal spanned generations.

Tracks on this album from the recording artist voted by VH-1 and Associated Press as the 12th Best Rock ‘n’ Roll Artist.

THE GENIUS OF RAY CHARLES - Mastered from the original analog tapes and pressed at RTI!

Audiophile 180-gram vinyl edition of the legend's classic 1959 Grammy-winning LP.

The Genius of Ray Charles saw the 'genius' emerge from rhythm and blues and onto a broader musical stage. His performance of "Come Rain or Come Shine" brought attention to his voice without the distractions of the piano. The album features "Let the Good Times Roll" and "It Had To Be You".

"Charles spent the fifties working hard to pioneer his own sound, fusing jazz, gospel and the blues into a new soul style that changed American music. But here he relaxes: Genius is easy — swinging pop, featuring big-band accompaniment. When he sings "Am I Blue?" the only answer is "Hell, yeah!" - rollingstone

RAY CHARLES THE GREAT RAY CHARLES 180 Gram Vinyl Cut from the Original Analog Masters by Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab!

The Genius' GRAMMY®-Winning 1959 album masterpiece sounds simply brilliant on Rhino's 180-Gram 50th Anniversary vinyl edition of an all-time Atlantic Records' classic!

Ray Charles paved the way for the genre of soul music in the 1950s by combining rhythm & blues, gospel and blues styles. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Ray number 10 on their list of "The 100 Greatest Artists of All Time" and was voted number 2 on their list of "The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time" in November 2008.

"Some of Ray's greatest moments - deep soul-satisfying jazz of the highest order." - David Ritz, coauthor of Brother Ray: The Autobiography Of Ray Charles

"This instrumental jazz album, released in the same year [as his debut, 1957], avoids the signature Ray Charles R&B sound and instead highlights his chameleon gifts as a pianist, running the gamut from swing to small combo blues to Art Tatum-influenced showpieces." - Greg Cahill, The Absolute Sound, October 2010, Issue 206
