This visit between friends is rich in Down-Maine legend and lore about summer people, woodchucks and woodpiles, lobsters and yachtsmen, and tourists. Maine and New England culture is rich in history and folklore. A handful of humorists and storytellers over the past few decades have captured the Maine mystique with recorded tales and anecdotes of life in the Pine Tree state.
