MORLY GREY - THE ONLY TRUTH (Starshine 69000/1972) original press with poster, in shrink. The cover grades M-; vinyl grades M-. This is a like-new lp, the story being that this was unearthed back in the home country (Youngstown, Ohio and environs) in a sealed state, no less. It was summarily purchased by a West Coast artist/psychic explorer/all around cool fellow. He, quite fittingly, cracked the seal on this bad boy, made a recording for daily play and wisely placed said lp back into its cover. As fortune would have it, I possessed a sealed copy of another Ohio underground rocker and - well, it should be obvious by now that I came into possession of this most holy of holy grails, if such a statement not be perceived as overly hyperbolic, whereupon I played it discreetly and made a recording for everyday play.
Which brings us to today - up for offers is a twice played, in the shrink beauty of a copy and the only possible upgrade from this state would be sealed. As I shared with my wife a short while ago, this here lp would be considered the cornerstone of many underground and psychedelic rock collections, made all the more special because of the condition. For those not knowing why they should even care, there are ample reviews available on the web regarding this superb disc. Below is some info I ran across:
Morly Grey released their 1st and only album The Only Truth in 1972,
NOT 1969 as told in some discographies and books. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Some recording dates
1971, at Cleveland Recording Corporation, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cleveland, Ohio. Engineering: Ken Hamen.
1972, at Peppermint Studios, Youngstown, Ohio. Engineering: Gary Rhamy.
First drummer Paul Cassidy was fired after the recordings was done and Bob Lanave took his place.
The group kept side one but recorded a new side two with the new drummer and also changed the album title
after the new track "The Only Truth". So there are two drummers on the album!
Tim Roller, guitar
Mark Roller, bass, vocals
1:st drummer: Paul Cassidy, R.I.P. died March 2001.
2:nd drummer: Bob Lanave, drums, percussion, vocals
It was released on the Starshine label and had the number 69000 and included a free poster.
