Description

OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL 1968 COLGEMS MONO MONKEES, “BIRDS THE BEES AND THE MONKEES (COM-109) THE HOLY GRAIL FOR MONKEES FANS TO BE SURE. THIS WILL BE YOUR FINAL UPGRADE SHORT OF FINDING A FACTORY SEALED COPY. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL AMERICAN COLGEMS MONO RELEASE.  THIS MONO LP WAS QUITE A RARITY WHEN IT WAS RELEASED IN 1968 AND NOW IT IS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND AT ALL LET ALONE IN THIS NEAR MINT CONDITION.

Some foreign countries also pressed this LP in mono, but not all have the unique dedicated mix found in this USA pressing. In 1968 Colgems/RCA ended the production of mono LPs and over the years collectors realized that the mono version was much harder to find. It seems as if only a few hundred copies were pressed. The MONO mixes on this album are at times vastly different than the more common stereo release.  In particular, "Auntie's Municipal Court" and "Tapioca Tundra" in mono blow the stereo version(s) away.

THE CONDITION:

Just to be clear, let’s go over all aspects of this LP’s condition. I personally listened to every moments of this disc. The vinyl quality is M-.  The disc plays as new.  There is no surface noise on the lead in and every track is clean and pure as can be. There is the occasional slight surface noise between several tracks but no more noticeable than what you would expect from a newly unsealed disc. With the treble way up, you may only catch the slightest unavoidable surface sounds similar to any new disc.  At the end of the day there is always going to be the sound of the cartridge against the vinyl.  Check out the photos, the spindle hole is clean as can be.

The cover is totally complete.  Not a single tear or separation anywhere. The front cover has a slight trace of ring wear along the 6 o’clock position and a slight press along the top edge. All four corners are in good condition.  The top left and bottom right corners have a slight press to be real picky. There is what appears to be the residue from a long ago price sticker on the top left corner. It is perfectly smooth and there does not seem to be anything there that can be removed or cleaned.  Again, check out the photos. The back cover is near perfect.  Under Peter’s photo is a very slight discoloration. It is hardly noticeable but I am trying to pick out everything possible.  The spine is also near perfect.  The full title and catalog number are bright and fully readable.

An American Colgems Mono pressing in this grade has not come along in a real long time.  American Colgems Mono copies hardly come along at all in any condition! It is very important to me that you are 100% happy with this and get exactly what you expect. Description and expectations can not line up some times and I encourage you to closely examine all the photos and ask any questions you may have. I am happy to answer them all.  I will include a jump drive with an MP3 recording  of the MONO album so that you can keep actual play time on this disc to a minimum. I will make sure to pack it securely in a strong record box to insure its safe arrival.
