MINORITY BAND - Journey To tHe Shore LP
Notes: Released
on JSR Records out of New Jersey back in
1980.
A killer record, and a very rare piece of jazz/funk/soul. Such
a solid LP too. Every track is a winner. From what I've heard,
only 500 of these were pressed.
Check
out the clips ....
Condition (Jacket/Vinyl): G / VG- to VG (grading
conservatively)
Condition Notes:
First I'll tell about the sleeve. I ain't gonna lie. It's
beat. The top is split. The seams are worn. Little pieces
are flaking off the top. There's a 1-inch rip on the
opening and another 1/2 inch rip lower down. The
bottom of the sleeve is kinda gnarly. There's some water
damage (more apparent on the front) and some purple-y
splotches (mold?).
The sleeve is autographed by
Frederick King, the trumpet player. The inscription reads: "To
Mays & Family, From Your
Nephew."
Moving on to the record. I'd say it looks
VG- but plays VG in some sections and VG+ throughout most
of the record. I have cleaned it several times on
our VPI machine, so the vinyl is as clean as
I can get it, and is still very glossy.
The 1st cuts on
both sides have some scuffing that creates light background
noise throughout the 1st half of each track. There are light
marks on the rest of the record, but none of these marks are deep enough to cause
much of a disturbance. The inside tracks play much better.
Overall, the record is very listenable. I suggest you listen to the
audio clips to get the best idea of how the LP sounds
condition-wise.
