Description

Miles Davis - Sketches Of Spain (Fontana TFL.5100 Mono)

Fontana UK mono release from legendary jazz artist Miles Davis and believed to be a 1st press. Sketches Of Spain was released in 1960, a year after his jazz masterpiece Kind Of Blue, and was arranged and conducted by Gil Evans. The album is cited by many as his most accessible for non-jazz listeners.

Matrix numbers are:
AA682079-1L
AA682079-2L

Cover is EX. Front laminated cover has a hint of ringwear most noticeable on the yellow section at the top and there are a couple of impressed lines running vertically on the left hand side but neither have broken through the laminate. Spine is solid, clean and clear and no splits on the other two edges.

The rear flipback is generally in good condition. The flipback sections remain glued in position and remain reasonably clean for the age of it. The white rear has discoloured from time with some signs of grubbiness. A ringmark in the centre is also visible. Otherwise the rear has no significant damage apart from a couple of small grazes that blot out part of the opening sentence in the great write-up. Rest of the text is perfectly legible and makes for some great reading.

Record is EX. Clean and shiny vinyl. Has a few faint sleeve marks only seen under bright light otherwise in great condition. Plays as EX+ and would have been a NM if it wasn't for a few seconds of light clicking a couple of minutes into the 1st track. Excellent recording though.

Labels are EX+. A few faint spindle marks on both sides. Otherwise in immaculate condition.
