MFSL 1-512 & EMI ASD 2816 Quad Tchaikovsky Audiophile

MFSL Original Master Recording Tchaikovsky Symphony 6, and color stamp!!!! label ASD 2816 Quadraphonic 1972 pressing, For collectors of ASD series, here is the officially never issued label of this LP. Officially the only two labels this was issued on was the black and white or color band label, but here it is , the earlier color stamp label. This is because  Australian pressed ASD label range, changeovers were delayed and explains why in Australia we had local gold and cream labels right upto ASD 2363.

The MFSL is the half speed mastered version pressed on JVC Virgin Vinyl remastered by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs and pressed at JVC Japan. JVC Virgin vinyl was originally developed for Quadraphonic recordings(JVC CD-4), then chosen as the preferred medium for Brad Miller when mastering his new Audiophile label MFSL in the late 70's.

You probably haven't ever seen them offered side by side in one listing, MFSL fans may not have even known the stock number to go looking for to listen to the original version and compare. Lets just say that even though Quad mixes were superior to stereo as they were targeting the early audiophile Market (Quad is analog version of DTS surround which Brad Miller from MFSL helped Sony to develop before his death in 1998) Let's just say the MFSL as usual, which is mastered from the original ASD EMI Stereo Master recording, definitely gives more "grunt" to this classic recording. ASD fans need to hear this if they never have heard any classical MFSL Recordings, they issued several EMI ASD including the 1812 by Previn (ASD 2894) ((  I got both of those as well....   ))

Check out my other items,  Audiophile and Classical

Remastered as only Mobile Fidelity Sound labs could have, a classic re-issue and much sought after pressing of  Tchaikovsky Symphony 6,

Opportunities to get such a rare mo fi issue, especially in Australia, and in this, great NM  condition,  at such a low starting price are certainly Rare Indeed.

NO RESERVE so you might get Lucky!!

Condition (See Photo's)

MFSL 1-512 COVER EXC and LP, NM-   Cover has only small damage to top left corner where the seam has a fracture on top of blue banner, from the corner to the letter "i" in the word "ORIGINAL" but the rest of the jacket is un marked .  Only visible damage to LP is a few fine paper scuffs you can only see in sunlight, no marks correspond to any normal tics occasionally experienced with normal vinyl playback, during  full test play revealed condition is confirmed as NM minus.  Record was clean and dust free, but has been wet washed using Knosti record Bath, Record also treated with LAST Record Preservative, said to protect from further wear damage for upto 200 'plays'. After cleaning has been given brand new MFSL inner dust sleeve. LP also has the protector insert sheet that has catalogue with thumbnails of other MFSL issues on the inside .

EMI OASD 2816  COVER EXCELLENT MINUS (SMALL STAIN ON KARAJAN BACK COVER PHOTO AND VERY MINOR RING WEAR, also owners name writen in pen on rear top left corner) NO SEAM SPLITS, CORNERS STILL SQUARE

OASD 2816 Lp very good plus, owners initials on side 1 label, plays very cleanly, fully test played after washing with Knosti record Bath, just has paper scuffs only visible in bright sunlight, but side 1 also has the marks on the lp where the plastic dust jacket has left a filmy residue in wavy patterns visible in angled light, mostly on the polished run out (dead wax) area. Believed by me to be caused when an lp very rarely gets removed from the jacket and the plastic outer 'sweats' onto the vinyl, and has to be encouraged to leave the dust jacket after sticking to the jacket for extended time periods without removal. Most times these foggy marks do not affect the playback in the grooves as the sticking causing foggy lines on the LP is most noticeable on the runout which is smooth and polished.

SHOULD THE COMBINED WINNING BID EXCEED $40AUD, I WILL ALSO TREAT THE OASD 2816 with Last Preservative. which is an Archive quality vinyl preservative, said to protecxt from further wear damage for upto 200 'plays'

RULES FOR BIDDING

DOES ANYBODY READ THIS?? I THINK NOT BASED ON RECENT BIDDING ACTIVITY ON MY ITEMS!! PLEASE READ...

If you have hidden feedback, or

less than 98% positive, or

less than 50 recent visible positives, (that's NEW EBAY registrations with little activity yet, that have proven your good buying habits)  THEN -

I would appreciate email contact first to establish your credentials.  Credentials mean that I need to know you will be paying with VERIFIED PAYPAL account, and I of course will only be mailing to that verified address. DON'T EXPECT TO GET MY PERMISSION IN THE LAST 2 HOURS OF BIDDING, DO IT BEFOREHAND. (Buyers who have had trouble free transactions with me already qualify of course, regardless of the feedback status)

Winning bids unpaid after 7 days will be reported as non paying bidder and item opened to second chance offer.

HAPPY BIDDING, QUESTIONS WELCOME

This listing in Australian dollars because I don't live in US or UK, and if you don't, WHAT A WASTE OF DOUBLE CONVERSIONS THAT WOULD BE!!! Also as the exchange rate is more like R.S. not U.S against our vibrant economy in sunny Australia

The keen starting price offers a great opportunity to own this great recording at a reasonable starting price.
