Original authentic factory sealed copy of Led Zeppelin’s 1st album released by Atlantic Records in the early January of 1969. The band was recording the album under the name The New Yardbirds and it’s most likely if it wasn’t due to Chris Dreja telling the members that they didn’t have the rights to this name, we would see “The New Yardbirds” as the band name on the cover of this album. The sealed copies of this album come across extremely rarely. It’s always hard to describe a factory sealed copy of this album as most of the time you hope that it’s a very early 1st pressing with the label variation whose design changed in 1968 to the green/orange color with the colored Atlantic Records boxed logo at the top center. The “1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y.” address was used on the 1st variation label up until 1973.  But the problem is that this album was being reissued until 1975 with the four-digit SD-8216 catalog number. Therefore, it could also be the eighth US Atlantic label variation, which was in use in between 1974 and 1975 containing the “75 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, N.Y.” address or the ninth label variation with the “W” logo containing the “A Warner Communications Company” text  what you can be absolutely certain about is that it has the green/orange Atlantic Records labels, but the addresses on them might vary and contain the “1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y.” address as well as the “75 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, N.Y.” one. But there is a strong sense that this copy is a very early pressing containing the seventh US Atlantic label variation with the “1841 Broadway” address. The cover’s cardboard looks much thicker and the copy’s weight feels heavier than the mid-70s repressings.

I grade the cover as Mint Minus because it’s in superb condition. The factory shrink wrap containing the original breathe holes, two on the front cover, is fully intact and doesn’t have any splits, tears or missing pieces, only having some very light age shelf wear. The top and bottom right corners have some very light bumping along with a very light barely noticeable discoloration at the top right corner.
