Ultra Violet (UV), artist, actress and muse to both Salvador Dali whom she met in the late fifties and who introduced
her to Andy Warhol in 1965, instantly becoming Warhol’s superstar and égérie was born Isabelle Collin Dufresne in
France. UV made this very unique record in 1973. Unfortunately It was withdrawn immediately before it’s commercial
release, rumors has it that because of the first 1973 oil crisis in october that same year Capitol, anticipating a
shortage of vinyl patty, decide to withdraw it along with other releases.

"The record was a personal drama in my life. Although it was printed, it was never distributed » she said to Paul
Maréchal in the 1st edition of his 2008 ‘catalogue raisonné’ of Andy Warhol record covers.

The front cover was designed by Ultra Violet at Warhol's Factory. The back cover shows an SX-70 Polaroid photo by
Andy Warhol with his initials at the bottom.

A 33 min film from august 23, 1973, «Ultra Violet Album Cover Design Session », from the Factory Diaries shows
Warhol taking Polaroids of Ultra Violet. Some, of her profile with her legendary long tongue sticking out were not
used. The picture actually used on the cover was shot in 1967 by photographer/jazz record producer Lee Kraft.
Warhol also made a dozen Polaroids of UV with an apple in her mouth. One of those appears on the back cover of the
album. The film shows that UV and Warhol did not agree which one was the best, eventually it was Andy's choice of
Kraft photo that made it to the cover.

Produced by Jeffrey Cheen, one of Capitol A&R guys at the time, it was recorded in L.A. and at Todd Rundgren’s
secret sound in N.Y. The record has a certain " je ne sais quoi .....?"
