Incredible copy of Led Zeppelin's second album, 1st US pressing featuring Robert Ludwig's "Hot Mix" mastering of both sides. Withdrawn very early as the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack, which made people to return the album thinking it was defective. Outstanding copy in all of the aspects. First of all, the original cardboard gatefold cover in Near Mint condition still remains in the original shrink wrap, which has never been removed, and therefore, the gatefold cover has never been opened. Very early print raw matte light brown cover has all of the stickers possible for this issue. Perhaps, you've come across this combination, but coming together with Robert Ludwig's "Hot Mix" is incredibly rare. The front cover has a promotional song "Including Their Hit WHOLE LOTTA LOVE" hype sticker affixed to the shrink wrap and "Gold Record Award" foil sticker affixed to the cover underneath the shrink wrap. The back cover has a song title "This Album Contains" hype sticker with the 1st pressing SD 8236 catalog number affixed to the shrink wrap. Original 1st print Atlantic Records "From The Atlantic Catalogue" inner sleeve with the other 54 Atlantic releases, which was changed to another inner sleeve with 16 adverts on all of the subsequent pressings. Clean 1st print orange-green labels with the "MO" suffix, indicating Monarch, Los Angeles pressing, "Mfg By Atlantic Recording Corp., 1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y." address, and SD 8236 catalog number. The vinyl is in the condition which is extremely hard to find. I grade it as Excellent. The vinyl has a beautiful shiny lacquer as if it just came out of the factory. It only has some occasional very light surface scuffs from the inner sleeve. Thick heavy vinyl pressing with the hot mix Bob Ludwig's mastering handwritten initials "RL" (Robert Ludwig) are stamped in the trail-off vinyl on both sides. Sterling Sound's "SS" mastering handwritten initials are also located in the trail-off vinyl on both sides. The "MR in circle" stamp and "Delta" number on both sides identify the Monarch Records pressing.
