KURT LEIMER : Leimer Piano Concerto No. 4 . Played by Kurt Leimer with The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Robert Wagner . Extremely rare 1958 or 1959 [ I’m not sure ] Stereo first pressing on Decca SXL 2100 Wide Band Groove label with first issue blue bordered sleeve . The matrix number at six o’ clock in the dead wax on side 1 is ZAL - 4213 - 1K , the number at 9 o’ clock is 2B , the tax code at 12 o’ clock is RT for 1958/ 9 and at three o’ clock is the letter I , the numbers for side 2 are ZAL - 4214 - 1E, B2 , RT and I. I have cleaned this record once with isopropyl alcohol on my Moth Mk. 2 .
The SLEEVE is in VERY GOOD condition with no major faults .
The RECORD has a finger nail mark on side one which looks bad but actually produces very little noise , just a very short [ 1 sec or so] distortion where the finger nail has run along the groove. I have played the record through with my Ortofon MC 30 Supreme cartridge and could detect no other distortion . THIS IS NOT A WORN OUT WRECK , it has just not been looked after particularly well . There is some general random surface noise but nothing too off putting , and I am sure a further clean or two would pay dividends .
I have tried to give as full and honest a description of this record as I can , as I do not want to mislead anyone . There is some surface noise, but nothing too nasty and visually it’s not perfect but I would not offer this record for sale if it were not a genuine “ player “ . This could well be a “ once in a lifetime “ opportunity to obtain a Stereo first pressing of this incredibly rare & sought after recording [ the latest Mint guide price is £750 ].
All LPs are cleaned on a Moth mk. 2 record cleaner, are visually inspected and any marks are tested for noise on a high quality system . Records are removed from sleeves for dispatch and are sent in new mailers. I am happy to combine purchases to save on postage costs .
