Final Upgrade Archive Copy 47 Years Like This!

Another from my personal collection. 1st issue, 1st UK pressing 1968 of John Mayall's Bare Wires lp. This album is probably in the best condition that you could ever find in my opinion. The vinyl actually looks like a new vinyl in my opinion, in fact I really struggle to see any spider marks or indeed any marks on the playing surface at all, very rare like this! The album has been owned by me from new and only ever played two times ever, initially played just to record to tape and then stored in a case with the vinyl removed from the cover and sleeve for protection. This how I have always stored my records.  This vinyl reproduces absolutely outstanding near as perfect audio quality which for me the audio quality has always been my primary objective for collecting vinyl over the past 45 years or more. Any who know this album would realize that there are very quiet places during the play of this vinyl so only the best quality vinyl sounds any good.  The vinyl was play tested and recorded at loud volume on a top system importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge. This audio is stunning clear and vibrant without distortion and I would grade the audio as Near Mint on my systems as I heard it. No loud nasty constant clicks or pops. The original  laminated front only 1st issue gate fold Robert Stace printed cover is in Near Mint condition very, very rare to find like this after 47 years. Full description below.

Listen to the complete album in the player below. Actual recording from the vinyl.

Bare Wires is a studio album by John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, featuring Mick Taylor on guitar, released in 1968 on Decca Records. The album was the last John Mayall studio album to feature the name "Bluesbreakers".

The previous Bluesbreakers album Crusade saw guitarist Peter Green, who left to form Fleetwood Mac, being replaced by Mick Taylor. This album, "Bare Wires", saw bassist Andy Fraser, who would later join Free, being replaced by Tony Reeves, while drummer Keef Hartley was replaced by Jon Hiseman.

Songs The songs "No Reply" and "She's Too Young" were released as a single by Decca. The album's a-side was a medley called "Bare Wire/Suite" which featured the individual songs "Bare Wire", "Where Did I Belong", "Start Walking", "Open A New Door", "Fire", "I Know Now", and "Look In The Mirror".

John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers are a pioneering English blues band, led by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist John Mayall, OBE. Mayall used the band name between 1963 and 1967, but then dropped it for some fifteen years.

However, in 1982 a 'Return of the Bluesbreakers' was announced and the name was in use until the band again dissolved in 2008, to be resurrected again in 2009. The name has become generic, without a clear distinction which recordings are to be credited just to the leader, or to leader and his band. The Bluesbreakers have included musicians such as:

Eric Clapton (April–August 1965, November 1965–July 1966) and Jack Bruce, both later reuniting in Cream,
Peter Green (July 1966-July 1967) departed with Mick Fleetwood (April–July 1967) and then also enticed original bassist John McVie a few weeks later to form Fleetwood Mac,
Mick Taylor (August 1967–July 1969) who later joined The Rolling Stones, and reunion tours in 1982–83 and 2004,
Harvey Mandel, Walter Trout, Larry Taylor (Mandel, Trout and Taylor left Canned Heat to join Mayall),
Don "Sugarcane" Harris, Randy Resnick, Aynsley Dunbar,
Dick Heckstall-Smith, Tony Reeves and Jon Hiseman (later of Colosseum),
Andy Fraser (Free), Chris Mercer (Juicy Lucy), Henry Lowther, Johnny Almond and Jon Mark (later of Mark-Almond).

The band that would evolve to the Bluesbreakers in 1965] was formed in January 1963 and became an ever-evolving lineup of more than 100 different combinations of musicians performing under that name.[2] Eric Clapton joined in April 1965 just a few months after the release of their first album. Clapton brought guitar-led blues influences to the forefront of the group; he had left The Yardbirds in order to concentrate on the blues.

The Vinyl
This vinyl is the original thicker and heavier type for robust than later reissues with deeper grooves. This is free of any warping. On initial inspection of the playing surface looks like new in my personal opinion and lays perfectly flat on the turntable. Even in strong light I find it hard to even see a blemish on the playing surface very very rare after 47 years, Any marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal only, Importantly  nothing that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops during the audio! It is important to note that this vinyl has only ever been played two times by me only from new. One time when I initially purchased this to record to tape and another to record so that you can hear the audio quality for yourself!

 The Audio Quality
I have played this vinyl one time prior to listing, at very loud volume on a top system, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge.,  This vinyl plays through crystal clear and very vibrant without any signs of distortion very near as perfect in my opinion! The audio is absolutely beautiful, crystal clear and very vibrant with that deep bassey feel , only found like this on these earliest originals! I heard (no) constant loud clicks or pops and amazingly no real surface or background static during the audio and importantly no distortion or signs that this has been overplayed at all! There are Certainly no skips or jumps! Even in between tracks this is lovely, quite unbelievable to find like this after all these years! 47 years old and still looks and sounds like a new vinyl in my opinion!

hear for your self in the player above, actual recording from the vinyl!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality of this album and those who know the listings and vinyls that i sell my prime interest is the audio quality! Please allow for the odd isolated static/click but nothing consistent  through out the audio! This is a genuine (not) reissue vinyl that is 44 years old and would have been played on a system that is 44 years old! You can hear the complete recording of this album in the player above!

Please note, this album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 50 years or more. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static\ crackle. A constant clean before each play is recommended. This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality. Points to note, I notice debrit on the playing surface after play so this will need cleaning before each play which will further enhance this audio quality.

The Labels
This is the original Un-boxed DECCA labels! I really find it hard to see any spider marks even when angled to the light! Very, very rare There is no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round. This features the J.T. tax code very rare to find this early   ''MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN''.! (UK PRESS ONLY)

The Record Sleeve
This is the original red and white Decca , poly lined record sleeve. Becoming fragile at the edges light creasing/staining/scuffing  with age only.  Nice and bright condition.  Please note, THIS IS THE ORIGINAL! The vinyl is always stored separately from the vinyl for protection. This is how I always store my records.

The Cover
The original   1st UK PRESS  laminated Robert Stace  flipback cover. This cover in  nature is very flimsy and is very difficult to find in good condition especially after 44 years. There are no real main creases to mention on the front or rear. There are no splits or tears the cover is strong and straight and the laminate has a nice glossy sheen. All text is readable. There is a slight tear on the inside where the cover had stuck together. The spine is perfect and square no flattening and all text is readable! One of the best looking covers that I have seen of this album!   I would grade this cover at excellent plus to near as mint in my opinion!
