JOHN COLTRANE AND JOHNNY HARTMAN – IMPULSE A-40 – VG+/M- - MONO
Recorded at the Van Gelder studio on March 7, 1963, this Impulse session features John Coltrane on tenor, Johnny Hartman on vocals, McCoy Tyner on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass and Elvin Jones on drums. SIDE 1: THEY SAY IT’S WONDERFUL; DEDICATED TO YOU and MY ONE AND ONLY LOVE. SIDE 2: LUSH LIFE; YOU ARE TOO BEAUTIFUL and AUTUMN SERENADE. “VAN GELDER” is stamped in the blank vinyl on both sides of the LP. This is a MONO recording.
I have graded the vinyl as VG+ and the record jacket as M- for the following reasons. The vinyl is clean overall, but it has a few light marks, which do not interfere with play. There is, however, som surface noise, which brings it to a VG+ grade. There is no sign of wear in or around the spindle hole. The vinyl retains its original luster. The record jacket shows little to no sign of wear. There are no taped seams. There is the original sticker on the back with the original price and place where it was purchased. It reads: “The Coop - $3.69”. That’s the way it came and is pasted on and difficult to remove without damaging the record jacket.
