A Treasure of Legendary Jazz History

This is the original first pressing of what has been considered one of the two most significant jazz albums ever released – Miles Davis's Kind of Blue being the other contender.
Copies have auctioned for well over $1,000.
Enjoy this gorgeous and sincerely spiritual work of Coltrane's as it was originally envisioned. This is the first mono pressing, engineered by Van Gelder (whose name is stamped in the deadwax). Players include McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones.

Fully play tested. Buy with confidence: Listen to the quietest and most challenging passages of this record here:

Overall quality is VG/VG+. Comes with original sleeve and gatefold. Vinyl is in nearly pristine condition. I didn't do any wet cleaning, only dusted with canned air and gently brushed it with a carbon fiber brush.
My father, an audiophile and sound recordist, purchased this album when he lived in NY in the 60's. He was a rock and roll guy, and this was the only Jazz album in his collection. I would be surprised if he listened to it more than twice. I listened to it exactly once, to playtest and record the video linked above using a brand new properly calibrated low-pressure hi-fi stylus.
Vinyl is gorgeous, very little surface noise, plays perfectly from beginning to end except for the very last few seconds of side B where a small scratch causes a 'pop' for about 8 revolutions. You can hear this for yourself at the end of the video recording linked above.
Gatefold appears gently used. Lamination is peeling from a one one inch section of front. Gatefold inside has one mark, where my father wrote "January '67" in blue ink. Original protective sleeve is beginning to tear on one edge. Spine shows very little wear.
Aside from having been played very few times, the reason this record is in such good condition is that it moved with my parents from NY to the high desert of New Mexico 50 years ago, where it enjoyed essentially zero humidity / mildew.
I sincerely hope you'll enjoy owning this piece of jazz history. It's a very special and personal recording, as evidenced by the introduction Coltrane writes in the gatefold.
