THIS IS A COMPLETE GENUINE RARE ORIGINAL AND IS A REMARKABLE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY AN OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE MOST HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE VINYL ALBUMS OF ALL TIME.

An exceptional 1st Ever Press of ELECTRIC LADYLAND in SUPERB condition, with outstanding TOP AUDIO from start to finish!

Electric Ladyland is the third and final album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, released in September 1968. Produced and directed by Hendrix, the album has been viewed  as the peak of his guitar and lyrical mastery. Electric Ladyland is the last album released as the Jimi Hendrix Experience as well as the last Hendrix studio album professionally produced under his supervision. After Electric Ladyland, Hendrix spent the remaining two years of his life organising a new band, touring, and recording new songs.

Hendrix's studio perfectionism was legendary – along with Mitchell he recorded well over 50 takes of "Gypsy Eyes," over three sessions – feeling insecure about his voice and often recording the vocals hidden behind studio screens. Hendrix sings all the backing vocals himself on the title track and on "Long Hot Summer Night," and was said to have been happy with the vocal results on "Have You Ever Been". The controversial original UK album cover photograph showed a group of nude women, and was soon replaced by a more modest fiery portrait of Hendrix singing, making any original UK Nude laminated covers extremely rare and collectable.

With a hectic tour schedule and also trying to record a masterpiece, Hendrix tried to find some normality in his life by inviting friends and acquaintances to the studio during the recordings. Supposedly Chas Chandler hated spending so much time in the studio and partly blamed it on the full studio. Regular producer, manager and mentor Chas Chandler  eventually quit in May 1968, later complaining about Hendrix's insistence on doing multiple takes of every song, along with his alleged drugged incoherence, leading him to sell his share of the management company to his partner Michael Jeffery.  Hendrix went on to produce his most successful LP himself, followed by several very successful tours, which mostly sold out.

ALBUM LAYED FOR GRADING -

Yes - absolutely TOP 1st press astounding audio throughout. This is a truly outstanding audio performance. Any vinyl with this sort for sound is incredibly rare, let alone a 1st ever pressing of an original Hendrix vinyl!

ELECTRIC LADYLAND was recorded with a near live feel, including actual studio sound and many sparse sections, making it very prone to audio loss. Finding a pressing that allows all the audio complexities to sing through is un believably rare. This great record plays up to the visual and audio grading and way beyond, with incredible crystal clear sound, that can only be found on these rare 1st pressings. Its is a complex and varied collection of music, and is also a relatively sensitive piece of vinyl, and hard to find in clear audio condition. Worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like 'Voodoo Chile.' Not this One!

It really sounds great and plays with astounding sound separation and clarity! I doubt this could be bettered on an audio clarity level. Personally I was amazed when listening to the playback.

Superb sound, every track has been tested and I could find no obvious sound blemishes. Some light occasional static, and it is very light and very occasional. Wonderful TOP audio, there are obviously NO sticks or jumps what so ever, and very little surface sound between the tracks.  I will give a detailed account below:

Soothing in with 'And The Gods Made Love' this ultra quiet track nearly always plays with lots of loud static, clicks and loud pops. Not here, great audio, some very light background static only, and certainly not any pops or faults. The odd random light tic, but I mean incredibly light. 'Have You EverBeen', such a hard track for this album, nearly always prone to heavy wear, here sounds great. Minimal static, and no loud pops or clicks.  'Cross Town Traffic' also sounds great,  very clear, incredible bright sound. I cannot over state how bright this pressing is, and I've collected so numerous pressings over the years. 'Voodoo Chile' sounds crisp and clear. Not a hint of blurring or distortion, there are two light pops near the start, but I would not say they are obtrusive. The music is just so loud and crisp, you can here every sound the audience makes, the audio is so bright. Every out of time hand clap and every shuffle of feet. It plays superbly, minimal static, and no loud pops or clicks during the music, just that incredible great bright sound. You really could be there next to Hendrix. Even the chatting at the end of the track is crystal clear. 'Ah the bars closed' says a woman in the audience.

Side 2. of Electric Ladyland virtually always starts of with heavy static. Here there is some very light static at the start of 'Still Raining Still Dreaming,' but not a single pop or click throughout, and any static is so light and so distant its almost imperceptible. Amazing crystal clear audio. 'House Burning Down' plays really well with no static, and again, just incredible clean audio. Leading into the classic 'All Along The Watchtower.' Here it plays with lovely clear perfect sound, no distortion, no pops, just some very light static and No static tics.  Incredible. 'Voodoo Chile (slight return),' another track with sparse sections plays superbly, with great clear sound. No pops or clicks and nothing obtrusive. Wonderful and clear, with really just some very light static between tracks, and no distortion, and no pops or clicks. Incredible for these diverse and complex tracks.

Side 3. begins with rockous 'Little Miss Strange' and plays with nice clear runs ins and super clear audio. No pop or clicks and pretty much no static to be heard apart from at the very start, where there is some very light occasional background sound, but it is very light. 'Long Hot Summer', sounds amazing, with minimal static for such a varied track, even the vocal intro sounds very clear with a little very light static only. 'Come On' plays with bright clear sound,  no loud pops, clicks or obvious static. Being ultra critical I heard one light pop right in the middle but it was very hard to notice. The sound is so clear, that in the sections where it is just Hendrix singing, you can actually hear his amplifier hum in the background. Unbelievable crystal clear sound that would nearly always be lost under any surface sound.  A couple of very light tics between tracks. 'Gipsy Eyes' play so clear and bright, with no pops or clicks and certainly no repeating tics. A track that is often blighted by scratches and clicks, here it just sounds great. Barely even any occasional static.  No loud pops or clicks, just a few of faint background tics.
Leading into the Hendrix masterpiece, 'The Burning of The Midnight Lamp', again so often playing with poor distorted sound, but on this amazing 1st press its just sounding superb. The audio really is perfect.

Side 4. begins with the delicate 'Rainy Day Dream Away', which sounds great, with bright loud incredibly clear audio. No obvious sound blemishes or static and it also plays incredibly loudly. The extremely paired down introduction which makes up most of the track is a real vinyl test and its just crystal clear here. Moving into the paired down '1983 A Merman I should Return To Be' also plays great, with no pops or clicks, and minimal occasional light background static, the kind found on all vinyls. A few light tics in the middle of the track is about the extent of any interference to be found. Amazing for such a quiet track.  'Moon Turn The Tides', one of the other quietest tracks on Electric Ladyland sings out with very quiet run ins and quiet areas.  Great music with great clarity, and so hard to find with this type of sound.  Continues with the same high standard.  There are a few light tics to be found, and a few more at the very end of the track, but they are really light and any static to be found is so minimal, near inaudible. The music and the vocals are just so clear and crisp.

This is a truly outstanding audio performance of this extreme rarity. The music jumps out, with astounding definition and clarity, the vocals come through with tremendous power. Its the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the layered guitars come through crisp and clear. The tonal quality make this a sensational pressing. I've never heard anything like it. With the clear and extra loud First cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten.

A truly superb all round example of this classic vinyl. Staggering first stereo mix, unlike the re-issues which lack the impact and sound completely different. Thats means TOP audio,  - NO audio blurring, NO distortion, NO obvious background noise or hiss, just per bright clean sound and incredible definition.

This is a great Audio pleasure and I would have to give the Audio an EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT grading.

THE RECORD - Visual Grading

A lovely set of glossy vinyls, and a really thick pressing. Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original early pressings, this vinyl has a few light marks but has been little played. It does have some sleeve removal marks and a few very light scratches, but they are light and don't effect on the sound. There are a few small hairlines, and a few very light and tiny scuffs, but again non sounding. Obviously for a record that pays like this any marks on the vinyl are the lightest.

There are a few handling marks, this vinyl has been played carefully and shows no groove wear at all. Unbelievable to think this vinyl is over 40 years old!

Graded at EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT PLUS, and moving towards NEAR MINT on side 4.

A great all round Complete and Unbelievably Rare example of this HENDRIX MASTERPIECE!

VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING: - Yes, NONE visible what so ever, when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.

THE LABELS

A lovely set of labels. Matt Black and very prone to wear and marking, these ones have no marks or writing what so ever, and NO brush marks that these labels a very prone to. Great all round examples, they do have a few spindle traces on each side.

Graded at EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT.

THE COVER

Comes with the 1st Press TRACK Gatefold Laminated Cover, the original ultra Rare 'BLUE TEXT' Nude Sleeve, printed in the UK.

Its a stunning (un censored) example. The spine is undented and un split. It comes with the rarer deep High Gloss finish, only found on certain copies and with an obvious heavy lustre that can easily be noticed next to a normal laminated copy. Its a really stunning example but does have some laminate creases as shown in the images. The corners are all nice and sharp and there is NO foxing or fraying along the opening edges, which is pretty much unheard of on any original Hendrix gatefold.

Graded at EXCELLENT.

THE INNERS

Great condition original poly lined inner sleeves. NO tears around the die cut openings, No wear at the tops. NO creasing and NO seam splits down any of the edges. This is a nice set, a few handling marks but no splits or tears.

The vinyls themselves will of course come in two plain white inner sleeves.

Graded at EXCELLENT.

RARITY

ELECTRIC LADYLAND was not produced in massive quantities, but the polydor copies far exceeded the Track label version. The Blue text first pressings were realised in a very small run and are extremely rare. Finding any pressing of ELECTRIC LADYLAND, with an original Laminated Nude cover, and great vinyls that sound brilliant is extremely rare. The original first press with Blue Text gatefold is an extreme rarity, and to find a first pressing with this type of crystal clear audio makes this an incredibly rare example of the hugely collectable Hendrix masterpiece.

A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE AND VALUABLE PIECE OF MUSICAL HISTORY.

SCRUPULOUS EXAMINATION and TESTING:

All our records are play tested on highly sensitive equipment to ensure the sound quality and accuracy of description. We aim to give a precise and concise description of the sound, pointing out the slightest defect so that you know exactly what you are buying. We aim to describe all records as accurately as possible, and offer a full refund on return if for any reason you are not completely happy with the item description.

VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:

Highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and what we always aim for. We only sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance; super clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or other interference. Even with the cleanest pressing you will find occasional static or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and we advise a light clean between plays for optimal performance.
