AN ARCHIVE COPY NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE!!!
Another from my personal collection! This album has been stored in a case with the vinyl removed from the sleeve and cover for protection! This is how I have always stored my records!! This 1st UK pressing is in exceptional and near archive condition throughout! The vinyl looks and sounds like new, and the audio quality is the best that I have ever heard of this album! Played at loud volume using a dedicated mono cartridge. It is rare for me to say that this was perfect throughout on my system, I can not emphise enough at how rare it is to find a virtualy unplayed 40 year old Hendrix album that looks and sounds like a new vinyl!!This audio was absolutely stunning rich and vibrant and can not be surpassed in any other format in my opinion! Please note that this is the early original 1969 Mono pressed from the earliest stampers with A#1 and B#1 Matrix endings the labels are the original 1st issue\textured Track Labels (only 1st press) The vinyl is the original thicker slab of vinyl (only 1st press) The laminated front E.Day cover is the original 1st issue cover in truly exceptional condition, although the fully laminated cover version was also issued at the same time, to my knowledge not one cover was issued earlier than the other, at least I purchased this at the time of initial release!
Are You Experienced is the debut album by English/American rock band The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Released in 1967, it was the first LP for Track Records. The album highlighted Jimi Hendrix's R&B-based, psychedelic, distortion- and feedback-laden electric guitar playing, and launched him as a major new international star!!.
In 2005 Are You Experienced was selected for permanent preservation in the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress in the United States!!.
After being taken under Chas Chandler's wing and arriving in England in September 1966, The Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed with Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass. The group signed with Track Records, newly formed by The Who's managers Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp. However the group's debut single appeared on Polydor Records, because Track was not yet operational. This group released three classic Top 10 hit UK singles produced by Chas Chandler : "Hey Joe"/"Stone Free" (December 1966), "Purple Haze"/"51st Anniversary" (March 1967, the 1st release by the new Track Records label, on a special white label) and "The Wind Cries Mary"/"Highway Chile" (May 1967). During the making of these singles, The Jimi Hendrix Experience also cut the tracks that became their debut album, which Chas Chandler also produced with the Olympic Studios Engineer Eddie Kramer (some tracks were recorded with engineers Dave Siddle at De Lane Lea & Mike Ross at CBS studios). Released in England that May without the three singles - as was the custom in the UK at that time - Are You Experienced and The Jimi Hendrix Experience quickly became a sensation all across (non-communist block) Europe, with the album reaching #2 in the UK, behind The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!!!.
In Europe this LP was released by 3 different companies: the new "independent" Track Records, which produced the original cover with a picture by Bruce Fleming; the independent Barclay Records in France, which produced a completely different cover featuring a photo of Hendrix performing on a recent French TV show, surrounded by "psychedelic" painted, swirling graphics; and Polydor in Germany, Italy, and Spain. In Germany, Polydor used the original Track Records cover but added "Jimi Hendrix" in similar lime green text above the white Are You Experienced logos on the front; in Italy this added text was red, while in Spain it was yellow. These latter releases featured "fake" stereo, processed from mono. The back cover had a track list added!
Barclay Records of France added final punctuation to the album title: Are You Experienced?. Some tracklists of the album also add the question mark to the title track.
The South African Polydor release (obviously due to the apartheid racial barrier, and that the main customer base was seen to be "whites") had no pictures, only text on a plain red background (mono only).
Japan, Australia and New Zealand Polydor (mono only) copies used the original UK layout.
This album on offer is of course the original UK issue, original mono pressing!.

The Vinyl
This is the original thick and chunky slab of vinyl , only found on the earliest pressings! On initial inspection this vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of warps or warping! This vinyl looks indeed like new in my opinion! Even on close scutiny I can't even see a blemish at all, quite amaizinly non of the usual scuffs even! Of course any marks that could possibly be seen would only possibly be sleeve removal, but to be honest I can't see a blemish! (so rare to ever find on a 40 year old Hendrix original beleive me)!!!
The Audio quality.
I have play tested this album at very loud volume on a top system, importantly I used a dedicated mono cartridge! This audio is absolutely perfect throughout! (No) distortion clicks or pops and not even a touch of background static at all during this awesome audio! Absolutely stunning rich and vibrant, I havn't heard anything better! I can assure anyone that these earliest mono pressings will never be surpassed in any other format ever! In fact I am going to grade the audio as perfect as I heard it on my systems, even when played at very loud volume! Even between tracks on the run off grooves is almost silent, like a new vinyl! It is very important to note that this vinyl has only ever had a bare handful of plays ever! (These 40 year old originals rarely ever turn up in this extraordinary condition!!! The audio is graded as near to mint as it gets! For a 40 year old Hendrix vinyl is almost impossible to ever find!
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 40 year old vinyl, that would have originally been played on a 40 year old system!!! top top audio throughout! To be honest the vinyl played as new absolutely perfect on my systems!!
Points to note! This has been stored in a case for at least 25 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes static crackle\ticks ! A constant clean is recomended before each play!,, this will reduce this static and enhance the audio quality!!!!
The Labels
These are the original 1st issue track labels! Being primarily black in color, are so difficult to find in superbe condition! These labels are almost perfect in fact only angled to the light can barely be seen a handful of spider marks only and absolutely no visable ware around the spindle hole! The hole is perfectly round!
The Record Sleeve
This is a plain white poly sleeve always stored seperately from the vinyl and cover!
The Cover
This is the original E.Day & co printed laminated front only cover! Any who know or have seen these covers would know how incredibly difficult is is to find these in superbe condition! This cover has mega super glossy laminate appearance with (no) real laminate creases to talk of! Absolutely stunning appearance! Any rubbing is to the bare minimal and only noticed if looked for at the spine or at the rear! There are no splits or tares and no nasty names written! The rear is truly exceptional and again any rubbing is only noticeable if looked for and only if scrutinised can minor creases be noticed! This cover must grade at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion, apart from very very minor rubbing would be very near perfect indeed!
