Description
This is an acetate/test pressing of the JEFFERSON AIRPLANE's 1969 VOLUNTEERS LP. It's identified on the label as being RCA VICTOR XPRS-0255-2. "RCA Reference Recording" & "cut 7-23-69" is on the label. The disk is in Excellent condition..
What is an "acetate" you ask? An acetate is the first disk form of any record. They are aluminum disks with a coating of vinyl. These disks are not pressed like regular vinyl issues. Instead, they are individually cut by the Master Cutter as a "Pre" Test Pressing to give directions as to how the final cut should go. As such, each acetate is unique. Their desirability stems from the fact that they often bear no musical resemblance to the final release. Usually only 1-5 acetates are cut for each record or album.
Amidst the glut of recently signed sharpie signatures & the standard RCA releases, this is an opportunity to pick up an "out of the ordinary" Airplane item from 1969. Very rare. Not a bootleg. This was made at RCA..
