"Original 1978 stereo private pressing on Perceptive Media Productions (Batavia NY) (catalog # Z 505971/505972).

Private jazz/electronic music LP by Jeff Resnick made as part of a soundtrack for a promotional film on behalf of RIT's College of Fine and Applied Arts in upstate New York in 1978. This album is incredibly rare and was virtually unknown up to a few months ago, when Counterpoint Records UK compiled a track from this LP ("Glass") on their universally admired Jazz Bizniz 4 LP.

Here's Counterpoint's blurb for the Jeff Resnick track: ”Glass” is a little known modal jazz beauty by former music professor at New York State university, Jeff Resnick. The track was originally composed as part of a soundtrack for a promotional film and album that was being used to attract students to enroll into the School of American Craftsmen. The whole album was recorded over one afternoon, with each track setting the mood to the different programmes within the school - ‘Wood’, ‘Metal’, ‘Weaving’, ‘Glass’ and ‘Clay’. The electronic sound effects heard on the intro and outro are meant to simulate the sound of compressed air in the craft of glass making.

This pristine LP is a rare chance to hear the full album from which that one track was taken. The Craftsmen side is modal jazz with touches of electronics, the Art & Design side is more experimental electronic music, with lots of nice analog synth noises. All music composed, arranged and produced by Jeff Resnick, except the electronic percussion piece "Foundations" which was composed by Mitch Grant.

Dusty Groove America Review: "Glass" is pretty spacey at the start -- lots of weird electronics, almost a bit noisy -- but the tune then rolls into a warmly modal jazz groove that's completely sublime"

The previous copy sold for $285.  http:///Details.aspx?id=350213652645
