Description
Very, very rare JANET JONES LP on collectible yellow MIDAS label (MFHR059) - this was her first album in 1974 (before "Sing to my Lady") and was a Folk Heritage recording at Mid-Wales Sound Studios, Welshpool.
It's an impressive debut, too. Backed by her own and Derek Smith's guitars, Mike Poulton's keyboards and Derek Horsfield's bass, Janet's beautiful clear voice is perfectly suited to the material, which includes songs by Bob Dylan, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Joni Mitchell, Jackson C. Frank, Dory Previn and Ian Tyson, as well as three of her own compositions.
The 2005 limited edition re-issue (250 copies only) is already a sought-after item - this ORIGINAL piece of historic vinyl turns up practically never, and certainly not in this condition.
The vinyl is EXCELLENT plus - plays virtually as MINT - and retains its original sheen. Very close inspection under strong light reveals one or two minor paper scuffs, but the sound quality is STUNNINGLY lovely.
The sleeve has one or two slight creases and faint ringwear, but hardly surprising after over 30 years! There is no loss of colour, no tears, just one small spine-split. Overall, a very strong VG plus a bonus: the album is clearly SIGNED with "Best Wishes - Janet Jones."
Track-listing is: Someday Soon, Until it's Time for you to Go, Concrete Boxes, Lemon Haired Ladies, Waiting for you, Thoughts from a Window / To a Tramp, Silver Coin, You Never Wanted me Babe, Both Sides now, Tomorrow is a Long Time, and Retrospect.
