I won't bore you with the details about this album, as if you are looking at this then you know all about it anyway! This is the holy grail of Honeybus collectors everywhere.
In 1973 the band recorded the RECITAL album for Warner Brothers UK but it was subsequently decided by the label not to release the album due to a change of management and direction at the label. Some white label copies had already been pressed for record company personnel and to be used as promotional copies for record company insiders and is now highly collectable. This is one of those copies!
All the albums I sell are from my extensive personal collection, I do not buy and sell LP's to make a living on eBay. I am a collector and lover of vinyl and music just like you so I know what you expect from a description right through to how you want to receive your item. All play grading is done on a Rega P5 turntable with a single diamond cartridge.
During the 60's, 70's and 80's my father worked for various record companies and along the way I had some nice items passed my way. Some I would never want to part with others are sat on the shelf when they should be being enjoyed by enthusiastic fans. Occasionally I clear out a few items and this is where this beauty comes from.
STRICT GRADING based on the Record Collector standard: I do not grade anything as Mint that has been played
Despite being held in a thick plastic cover for the last 34 years or so the sleeve has collected some grubby dust along the way which as made it onto the cover. This is minimal and can be clearly seen on the photos. The sleeve is a wrap-around card sleeve of the final album cover design, as were used to promote test pressings for many years, this wraps around a plain white sleeve which has the cataolgue no handwritten on it. The main marking is down the spine and one small spot next to the track listing. Overall grading considering it's age, a strict : EX
Both labels are clean and bright and unmarked. Side A has a handwritten 'Omnibus - Recital' presumably put there at the pressing plant for some reason. Side B is completely clean. There are a couple of very faint spindle marks indicating the light use of the album. My father tells me it has only been played perhaps twice or three times! Overall EX++
The vinyl still has its lustre and sheen and has perhaps only been played twice in it's life time. I can see no blemishes or surface marks other than minute paper scuffs visible only under very strong light. I played a short section to play test the album on my high end hi-fi system and the sound is wonderful and clean and bright and there is absolutely no warping. You will not find better anywhere!!!!! NM
