Description
This is the original deep-groove RVG-stamped “P” pressing of “Hank Mobley” on the West 63rd labels of Blue Note 1568. Side 2 has the “New York 23” address (BLP 1568 was never pressed with the “New York 23” address on both sides). Side 1 has a few light, inaudible handling marks, but is otherwise clean; Side 2 has a nice luster and is in near-new condition except for a single inaudible ¼” mark. The laminated cover has the West 63rd St., New York 23 address and is bright and clean throughout: ¼”split on the top seam, at the opening; the spine has ¼” wear at the top, a 1/8” chip nearby, a few lamination cracks, two tiny chips, and ½” wear at the bottom; the bottom seam has 1/8” wear at the spine, a 3 ¼” break in the center, and a 1 ¼” split at the opening. Personnel include Bill Hardman, Curtis Porter, Sonny Clark, Paul Chambers, and Art Taylor. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------CHECK OUT the new book: "Blue Note Records, A Guide for Identifying Original Pressings" by Frederick Cohen.
