Description
This is an auction for a rare EP by Elvis Presley, A Merry Christmas.
This was released by RCA records in 1958 and has catalogue number RCX121. This is the 1st press with a tri-centre and single sleeve. Please check the pictures for clarification.
Condition: The sleeve comes in nice condition, with some lamination peeling seen to the front and rear mouth edge which also has a lamintion bubble. The rear mouth edge is a little flared and lastly the impression of the record shows through slightly on the sleeve. This is only seen on the front when tilted to the light, on the rear its a little more prominent. Edges Ex, no tears, bends, Flipback edges ex, no discolouring and graded at Near Mint.
Very nice labels on this one, only a few spindle trails on each side, the centre hole has a little buffing seen under the closest of examinations, also with some dust spots. Again please check the pics on supersize.
The vinyl retains its new shine, Under a strong light numerous light/feather scratches can be seen. I have of course test played this and side one is just about perfect and plays with very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. Side two does have a few crackles. The first 3 or 4 rotations of this side has crackles this soon clears completely. Then the occasional quiet crackle is then heard, these are not ticks or clicks, the crackles heard are almost all individual crackles, meaning there is no constant hiss or feckle and that these are indeed occasional. The last track of side two on this EP is very quiet in its nature thus the occasional crackle is quite audible although still way in the background. The music itslef has very loud and strong audio, this has been hardly played so does not suffer from any reduction due to wear.
Graded at VG+, Down-graded for the occasional crackle despite being hardly played.
A fine collectable with a fine sleeve too, perhaps not for the absolute purist.
