Description

DAVID BOWIE  (Davie Jones with the King Bees)

Liza Jane/Louie Louie Go Home Original 7" Vocalion Pop Demo 1964 (V9221)

Promotional copy of  David Bowie's first ever record as a 17 year old, pressed almost 50 years ago

One of the most sought after records in existance, this is the pre-release Demonstration Sample 7", even rarer to find!

Most collectors will know that there are counterfeit copies of this in circulation, but these are easily identifiable as they have a large 'juke box-style' centre-hole and etched matrix numbers.

This copy has the correct 'push-out' centre (fully intact) and the matrix numbers are machine stamped. (see close up on the photos)

Condition

Both sides have some minor scuffs and fine marks and there is a small raise in the vinyl on the outer groove, (about 1.5cm long) which is visable when the light shines on it but it doesn't effect the play at all.

I have just had the vinyl professionally cleaned and have played it once in the last 25 years to check the condition which i can say it sounds pretty fantastic for a record of this importance and being nearly 50 years old!  Visually VG++, plays Ex -  The labels look great, the original timings have been written on which i have seen on the promo copies before

Bid with confidence, some of my records have been featured in the music magazine Record Collector. Apart from the early Bowie Oak label acetates i used to have,  I had the original Liza Jane acetates, one on Dick James and the other has never resurfaced which was cut in 1964 at Decca. I will also include photocopy's of the acetate labels and of a cutting from 1964 about Davie Jones with the King Bees with this sale. A superb Pop Culture rarity, this item will only increase in value as David Bowie's status as one of the most influential and collectable artists ever continues to grow

Beautiful example of ones of the world's rarest records, very low starting price!
