Description

This listing is for an ultra rare, holy grail copy, jazz Bee Bop LP, Charlie Parker’s “The Bird Blows the Blues”. The label is Dial DLP-1. The story behind this scarce LP is that it is known to be the first jazz 12” LP ever produced, in 1949. It was only offered through mail order and was not a big seller considering the hefty price of $5.00, and it is believed that there were only 50, or so, copies produced. Of these there are thought to be less than ten copies known to exist world-wide. The label number was shortly re-cataloged as Dial LP-901. This copy is absolutely fresh to the market as it was found in the basement of a house clean-out with a collection of jazz and big band 78s and 33 RPMs about 3 months ago. It was originally issued without a cover and only in a sleeve. It is being sold in the sleeve that I found it in which could be the original plain brown paper one but I have no idea what the issued one looks like. It shows some light scuffs and scratches but the vinyl does not skip or stick at all. It does, however, play with some background sound which does not overwhelm the music. I think the worst of it is track three from side one, “Dark Shadows”. There is a section that pops for about seven or eight revolutions during the solo in the middle. To listen to a sample of this part Click here to open the sample in your computer’s media player. This sample is representative of the album in whole (excluding the aforementioned solo issue). The last song on the second side has a few pops but not as bad as what you heard during solo in the sample. I didn’t clean the record so it might improve the quality with a cleaning.

See photos for condition and feel free to ask questions. I will be happy to combine shipping for multiple auctions.

Check the shipping calculator for shipping options and, should you be the winner, be sure to read the invoice thoroughly for all shipping options. Ebay’s invoice will put my top shipping option in the shipping field as a default which is usually Priority Mail. In some cases Parcel Post will be cheaper (but take longer to deliver) so please be aware of your options. Shipping weights and package sizes are estimated, as I package the items after auction ends. The reason is that I may have multiple item winners and I will combine the items to save on postage. If excess postage is charged I will refund overage. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

Ebay requires that I pre-fill in the shipping weight and package size to list this item. I package my items after they are sold as I sometimes have multiple items to a winner. The weights I use are, somewhat, estimated. If there is an overpayment in shipping charges, rest assured that I will refund the difference.

If there is a concern regarding the amount quoted in my invoice, please contact me and I will recalculate the packaged item and send you a revised invoice.

I sometimes will forget to re-do the package size or weight from a previous listing for the shipping calculator so if you think the quote in this listing is too high please contact me to confirm that the info is correct. This has happened to me a couple of times and I am very grateful to have it brought to my attention.

I pride myself in my feedback score and the very positive remarks I have in regards to swiftness in getting my items out and the care I take in securely packaging my items.

Please contact me with any problems before leaving a less than perfect star rating in all categories. Even though it may seem that a four star rating is “good”, Ebay penalizes seller’s scores for less than perfect. Ebay will tell you, the buyer, that a rating of 4 stars (4.0 rating) is good but will suspend my selling rights if my average falls below 4.3. They are setting up sellers with unrealistic and unachievable minimums, thereby lowering seller’s rankings in searches and not qualifying for discounted seller’s fees. Even though you are told 4 is good, it is really bad for me so please consider your star grading seriously before you leave a feedback for me or any seller. If my customers have an issue, I beg that they contact me to resolve it. I am very eager to please. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest.

I almost always send my invoices the morning after the auction ends. I try to get paid items out ASAP but can’t always as I have other responsibilities. If there will be a delay in shipping I will notify you.

NOTE TO INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS (OUTSIDE USA)

I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS LOST IN DELIVERY OR FOR ANY DELAYS DUE TO POST OFFICE AND CUSTOMS HANDLING. DUTY FEES MAY BE INCURRED SO PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS AND CHECK YOUR LOCAL CUSTOMS POLICIES BEFORE BIDDING. I MAIL MY PACKAGES PROMPTLY AND CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST ITEMS (SORRY). THIS RARELY HAPPENS (I am told) AND HASN’T HAPPENED TO ME YET (NOTE THE FEEDBACK). I CANNOT GIVE REFUNDS FOR LOST ITEMS. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SHIPPING INFORMATION REGISTERED WITH EBAY AND PAY PAL IS CORRECT, THIS IS THE INFORMATION I USE TO SHIP. I WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ENSURE YOUR ITEM GETS TO YOU.
