Description
These are two original reference acetates from Bill Evans “The Paris Concert, Edition One”, issued on Elektra Musician 60164. The single-sided discs are Side A (25:59) and Side B (29:14); the reverse of each playing surface is shiny and ungrooved. The labels are from Columbia Recording Studios, which is acknowledged on the back of the cover. Both playing surfaces have a high luster and show no groove wear; there are light, inaudible scuffs on both records and a small abrasion at the beginning of Side B. Reference acetates are produced in very small quantities, usually for pre-production approval by the musicians and engineer. The Paris Concert recordings are the only commercial issues of Bill Evans’ last – and great – trio. Personnel include Marc Johnson and Joe LaBarbera.
