Description

Very Rare- BLIND JOE HILL - Boogie in the Dark - Barrelhouse LP VG+

Blind Joe Hill, Boogie in the Dark.
Label: Barrelhouse BH-08. Printed in USA.
Nice and very rare LP album (in great shape) by the obscure Chicago blues one-man-band Blind Joe Hill (born in West Virginia Blind Joe lived in the Rubber City since he was around eight).
Recorded at Glass Finger Studios by George Paulus.
The album features 10 performances by Blind Joe Hill on vocal, guitar, harmonica, drums, hi-hat cymbals, tambourine.
Note: All instruments are played at once and there is no use of ovedrubbing.
The tracks are mostly traditional blues standards as "One Room Country Shack" (originally recorded by Mercy Dee Walton) or "Sweet Home Chicago".
Also included a version of the instrumental "Hideway" made famous by the Freddy King recording.
Remarkable is the track entitle "She fool me" or the fabulous "Tin Pan Alley" (originally recorded by Texas piano player Curtis Jones).
Very cool & primitive urban blues played by an underground artist.
From the album notes: "Blind Joe plays his blues with a harp around his neck, a guitar in his lap, and a drum kit at his feet, all at one time, quite a show, especially when he's laying down big city Chicago blues ...". TITLE TRACKS
