BLACK SABBATH ''BLACK SABBATH VOL 4'' 1ST UK PRESS CAT NO. 6360 071 VERTIGO LABELS!!!! STUNNING TOP AUDIO ON MY SYSTEM AND AWESOME ORIGINAL 1ST PRESS GATEFOLD COVER!!!! TOP! TOP! AUDIO THROUGHOUT!!! VERY VERY RARE #1 AND #1 MATRIX AND ''PORKY'' ''PECKO'' HAND ETCHED ONLY 1ST PRESS!!! ORIGINAL 1ST PRESS GATEFOLD COVER PRINTED BY HOWARDS PRINTERS!!! COMPLETE WITH BOOKLET !!!!!
Another from my personal collection!!! and has been kept in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover to prevent ringware for the past 25 years or more! This is very very sought after original 1st press! Very Very rarely seen with #1 and #1 1st press matrix! Mainly always seen with #1 and #2! This being the very earliest and absolutely awesome top audio throughout cristal clear and very vibrant throughout can not be surpassed in any other format in my personal opinion! (normally seen played to death with nasty distortion clicks and pops) (no) loud clicks or pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps just the lightest static crackle during quiet track only! This is very very collectable indeed!!!!!!!!!
Black Sabbath Vol 4 is the fourth studio album by British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1972! Unbeleivably 37 years ago!.
The original UK release was as a gatefold sleeve, with a page glued into the middle. This gave each band member their own photo page, with the band on-stage (and photographed from behind) at the very centre!.
The album was originally to be titled Snowblind, the name of a track on the album which was a reference to cocaine use. The record company felt this to be controversial, for the American market in particular, so the title was altered. The song "Snowblind" had to be re-recorded because in the original Ozzy yelled the word "cocaine" after each verse. He can still be heard whispering "cocaine" in the final version, and he often shouted, "Cocaine!" during live performances of the song, as he does in their Reunion live album and the bootleg album Live at Last. In the liner notes of the album Black Sabbath thanks to "the great COKE-Cola Company," a slightly-hidden drug reference. Also during the Vol. 4 era, Geezer Butler sported a sticker on his white bass that said "Enjoy CoCaine," a takeoff on the phrase "Enjoy CocaCola."!!
The track "Changes" was one of the first Black Sabbath tracks to extensively use keyboards - piano was featured previously, on "Planet Caravan" from the Paranoid album and 'Solitude' from the Master Of Reality album!.
The album was recorded in California, the first time Sabbath had recorded a studio album outside the United Kingdom. "Changes" was a piano ballad written by Tony Iommi including some use of a mellotron for the orchestral sounds. A lyrically-adjusted cover version gave Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne a number one single thirty one years later!!!.
The album was reissued in 1996 on the Power Sound label as Children of the Grave with a new cover and one additional track, the "Children of the Grave" recording from Live at Last!!.
The album's title and cover art were spoofed for the 1992 Peaceville Volume 4 compilation!!!!!!!
All songs were written by Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward!.

The labels.
The original labels features the swirl on side a. and the swirl logo and track listings on side b.(only early press)!!!!! All rights.... are featured around the label rim(only early press)!!!!!!! Spidering can only be seen angled to the light and hardly any spindle ware (The hole is perfectly round) that this has been played but certainly not overplayed at all !!!!!
The vinyl.
Original heavy thicker and deeper grooved type of vinyl only seen on these very early pressings!!!!!!! Very soon were changed to flimsier and less robust type of vinyls!!!!!!
The vinyl is absolutely superbe on initial visual inspection this looks superbe and still retains its sheen from new!!!!!!
The Audio Quality
This vinyl as played and listened to very carefully track for track at least four times prior to listing and as played at very loud volume! I have tried to accurately give an honest acount on the audio quality as i heard it! The first thing that hits you hen the needle is put on the vinyl is the absolute clarity and vibrancy real raunchy deep bassey feel on this pressing, Truly stunning audio! Important to note that there are no loud clicks or pops at all!
(please note this vinyl has (not) been over played !!!!(This audio sounds truly awesome throughout) there no signs of grooveware or distortion during the audio play of this vinyl!!!! I have played this through track for track and the audio quality is superbe cristal clear and extreemely vibrant!!!! (In strong light only any marks that could possibly be seen would be light whyspy sleeve removal marks\scuffs\scratches (no) audio sounding marks or needle scratches that would produce any loud clicks or pops. The audio on this pressing in my opinion is almost as good as it gets for the most part for a very 1st pressing!!!!!Even in between tracks and quiet places there is extreemely minimal noise, I heard no surface noise just the very light static crackle intermitantly only on quiet places.!!! Please note! It is easy to be critical about these 70s pressings! Please allow for very light static crackle\tick during quiet places! There were some static crackle\ticks evident during the very quiet track 'FX' (which is fortunately only 90 seconds long) but as soon as the audio kicked in during the next track it was truly awesome and exceptional! !!!!! In my opinion this almost plays perfect on my system apart from this!!!This is one of the best audio that i have heard of this pressing!!!!! I would class myself as highly critical and this is a truly exceptional sounding vinyl and the 1st pressing by this awesome band ''black sabbath''!!!Audio is graded as Excellent to excellent plus very near perfect for the most part on my system!!!!!
Please note! That i always make this disclaimer! That although I never heard any clicks or pops during the play of this record please allow for the odd light static tick\crackle here and there certainly not consistant throughout the audio, This has been played and this is a genuine 37 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 37 year old system!!!!Important note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years, a build up of dirt and dusyt in the grooves causes static \crackle\ticks! A constant clean before each play is recomended! This il reduce any static and ill enhance the audio quality!
The cover.
This is the original gatefold (non) laminated (card type) 1st press cover with black on the inside opening Printed by ''HOWARDS PRINTERS'' (Slough) This cover is superbe with no splits or tares, Very light general storageware\ light rubbing at the edges noticable if scrutinised being primarily black in colour these are virtually impossible to keep as new (see photos) Remember this is 35 years old and original! Lovely square corners, very minimal creases worth mentioning at all!!!UNBELEIVABLE CONDITION!!!!! The spine is lovely and square and the writing is fully legable rarely ever seen like this!!!! The colour booklet is in as new condition full intact and well secured!!!!!! THIS MUST BE AT LEAST EXCELLENT!!!!!!
The record sleeve
This is the original vertigo swirl poly lined sleeve light general staining \fading with age small split at the bottom edge beginning\waring thin ! Please note the vinyl is now stored seperately from the sleeve!! This is how i have always stored my records!!!!!!!
