Description

BILLY SQUIER
"The Big Beat"
Mono/Stereo White Label Promo 45
Capitol Records/P-4901
1980
Mono side: VG++
Stereo side: VG to VG+

Here it is: a scarce 45 of this highly collectable single by Billy Squier. It has the song "The Big Beat" in both mono and stereo. It's a Capitol white label promo disc and has "Not for Sale" on the labels. The white labels have some staining on both sides. Though this doesn't look mint, it's in incredible condition. Mono side is mostly clean with a few light paper scuffs. This doesn't affect the play at all. It's VG++ or better. Light surface noise maybe once that keeps it from being NM. There stereo side just looks bad but sounds pretty great considering the visual condition. Please see the last picture, I tried to capture the look so it's not alarming to the buyer. Even with the noticeably unappealing scuffs and scratches, they are so light they barely affect the stereo side.

I tested this record a few times to give the most accurate grading possible. When the needle drops on the mono side, the record plays nearly perfect with very few surface noises at all. When the stereo side is played, a little surface noise is present. But when the music hits, it’s loud and those big drums are clear and unhindered by the wear. Throughout this side, there are some points in the passages when you can hear a little more surface noise and some pops. Again, these are not troublesome. These noises are soft and do not hinder the quality of music.

Details:

Unless otherwise noted, records are original pressings, not reissues or bootlegs. They come in generic sleeves unless noted. I have no way to record samples but if you want to call me, I’ll gladly play a 45 over the phone for you. I have played many of these records personally and taken the time give accurate grading. I played them on a very cheap belt-driven Sony turntable. If you have better equipment, most of these will probably sound or play better than they did for me.

What you are bidding on is an actual portrayal of what you will receive. I do my best to describe everything I sell in accurate and honest detail. If the items say new, they are new. If items are used, I make every effort to be as precise as possible.  Please note that your bid is a contractual obligation to purchase said items. Payment is expected within three days after the end of the auction.

At this time, I can only accept payment via Paypal but I WILL SHIP WORLDWIDE (with the exception of Italy, Africa, and a few other places that have postal issues). Items will be shipped within two business days after payment is complete. Please see my perfect feedback so you can have assurance that the transaction will be smooth as possible. If you note, when someone buys a record from me, the customer expresses adulation for the way I grade vinyl. Usually, they say the condition of the record is better than I described. Therefore, all items are sold as is and I cannot offer any refunds. Once you have received the item, please leave feedback as I will do the same. If there are any problems, contact before leaving negative feedback. We will be able to work out any problems without pettiness.
