NOTES
On offer here, a Sgt. Pepper's MONO U.K. First Press in an EXCELLENT Condition. You're about to obtain a mega rare earliest pressing that, by mistake of Garrod & Lofthouse, still sits in a "Fourth Proof"-cover, along with the type-set- and draft-ID number stamp AR D 1321.

For those among you who aren't familiar with the background, this very, very rare unique cover, commonly referred to as the “Fourth Proof”, represents the earliest possible pressing of Sgt. Pepper's cover. It's the final version of several "prototypes", which were all subject to approval of design by the Fabs themselves to making sure that everything looks "ready for production". It was certainly not supposed to be released as "unchanged testing cover". It is characterized by inverted wording “Fourth Proof” on upper right corner of the gate-fold's inside, commonly right above Gerorge's head - very rarely on the utmost right, like on this cover.
Moreover, only a few of these had “AR D 1321" (which is because wording "Fourth Proof" went to the right instead of being printed right above George's head).
Hence this is a rare version of a rare cover.

Comes on shiny vinyl, having the K.T. Tax Stamp on B-Label. Record is made of thick vinyl of 150 grams and sits in its original "psychodelic" inner sleeve (with "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" and "PATENTS APPLIED FOR"). The "package" is complemented by the dark green CUT-OUT, which is of course "Printed in England"...

As a serious collector, you must not miss out - the chance of obtaining this rare version of a rare earliest pressing "Fourth Proof" cover may not come across "too often""...

With pressing and release dates mentioned on the upper right, we do away with a strange "myth", namely the (whyever) wide-spread opinion of "1st of June" as being "THE Sgt. Pepper Date". Even decades later, many collectors around the world still "celebrated" that "magical" (still misleading) day. One may guess this is because it was once supposed to become the official release date. However, after British state television BBC had broadcasted the Fab's "Making-Of tapes" on May 12, 1967, already, they decided to hit the market earlier...

To underline, we provide the other major (national first press) release dates right here (in the order of their respective publication):
  • Germany, May 30, 1967, Red/White/Gold Odeon SMO 81 045 (EXPORT, stereo only)
  • Germany, May 30, 1967, Red/White/Gold Odeon HoerZu SHZE 401 (Domestic, stereo only)
  • U.S., June 02, 1967, Capitol Rainbow MAS 2653 -mono-, SMAS 2653 -stereo-
  • Japan, July 05, 1967, Black/Silver Odeon OP-8163 (stereo only)
Conclusion for this copy:
  • PMC 7027 MONO 1st Press
  • "THE GRAMOPHONE CO..."
  • "SOLD IN U.K...
  • K.T. tax stamp on B-Label
  • -1 / -1 Matricies
  • "Fourth Proof" cover with typeset/draft-ID "AR D 1321"
  • original psychodelic inner sleeve
  • dark green CUT-OUT "Printed In England"
We understand that our asking price is everything but a bargain (across all of our listings). However, we kindly ask you to refrain from sending "50-percent-offers". At beabay, we possess an in-depth knowledge of Beatles Vinyl, meaning our prices have been carefully chosen and placed. Dozens of international collectors trust in this and confirmed their 100-percent-satisfaction - some of them we copied later in this listing.

Please see grading details for a more elaborate description of the record's condition.

IMPORTANT NOTE for GERMAN BIDDERS: Please constact us before bidding, for otherwise we will remove your bid without prior notice. This is in view of constantly recurring problems, often caused by language. It's NOT an offense. Collectors want harmony and consensus, not trouble.    Record Grading

1st Class Packaging

We are Collectors, hence every record is stored (and will be sent) in a sophisticated way. Many experienced collectors were thrilled by our unique, bullet-proof "packing technicque". Original cover, inner sleeve(s), prospective inserts, and/or whatever may come across, are stored separately. The vinyl sits in a neutral antistatic, padded inner sleeve, which is housed in a stable, neutral cardboard cover. Package is protected by one (or more) transparent plastic sleeves. Finally, all items are being wrapped with thick bubble foil and go to a professional record mailer, which is then being properly sealed with water-resistant tape.

For packaging, we use brand-new material & items only. Whatever eBay MIGHT display: INSURED, SIGNED-IN, TRACKED SHIPPING IS FREE. ANY DESTINATION ON THIS PLANET.
(PLEASE NOTE that pictured record is an EXAMPLE only. It is NOT the item up for auction.
