Click here to hear the record! Honeys, Surfin' Down The Swanee River (with the Beach Boys backing) b/w Shoot The Curl. Year of release is 1963. This is an auction for a beautiful copy of the rarest and most highly sought after of all Beach Boys or Beach Boys related picture sleeves. It comes with a near mint plus (visual and play grade) copy of the 45 that you can listen to both sides of with the sound bytes provided. Doowop, Popcorn, Mod, and Northern Soul collectors alike may find this piece interesting because of the Honeys' and the Beach Boys' harmony, and their cool 60's sound. The Honeys consisted of Marilyn Rovell, Diane Rovell, and Sandra Glantz. Marilyn and Diane were sisters and were part of the group formed in 1961, the Rovell Sisters, which included a third sister, Barbara. Barbara was replaced by Sandra Glantz, the Rovell sisters' cousin. Producer Gary Usher introduced the Rovells to Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, who agreed to produce the group. Hence, the name of the group was changed to the Honeys, a nickname for female surfers! Brian Wilson and Marilyn Rovell (depicted in the middle of the group) were later married. The picture sleeve to this magnificent sleeve is one of the rarest of all Rock & Roll pictures sleeves and is perhaps the rarest of all Surf picture sleeves. This sleeve is in beautiful VG++ condition! There is virtually no surface wear although the slightest can certainly be seen through a microscope. With the naked eye, wear can only be seen upon the closest inspection if it can be seen at all. There are two mild creases that can be seen in the images below in the upper left corner of the Surfin' Down side. On the Shoot The Curl side there is a one quarter inch tear stemming from the top edge that appears in the upper right corner. On the same side there is an area on the center left side where the sleeve has two tears of about 2/32 and 3/32 of one inch. These tears are about three fourths of one inch apart, and the paper in between is bent slightly outward between the tears where the edge of the paper must have been snagged. Aside from the flaws mentioned, there is only some very slight wrinkling. All the individual flaws mentioned aside from the slight wrinkling can be seen in the images below if one looks carefully. The blue streaks depicted at the bottom of each sleeve side are not stains. They are painted in the Honeys' surfboard on which they are all resting their elbows. The sleeve includes a nice protective matte board insert which is superior to cardboard which releases oils that will damage a picture sleeve over time. The record was play graded on an audiophile system employing Basis Ovation, Graham Industries, Transfiguration, Sound Applications, and Jeff Rowland electronics.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------PLEASE VIEW FEEDBACK COMMENTS ON MY GRADING! Satisfaction is guaranteed on a money back basis with postage BOTH ways. I have never had a negative feedback or unresolved complaint and have had only one returned item with regard to any eBay transaction. Domestic buyer assumes responsibility for a $10.00 charge (presumed to be insurable for more than $50) for insured first class mail and handling. Insurance and delivery confirmations are required for all domestic shipments. Payments made with these charges subtracted will not be accepted. Only professional packaging materials are used for shipping, and all items are shipped securely and with filler pads; yet, you will not risk damage to the contents because the packaging is too difficult to undo. My packages are easy to open once you start the process, and you will not need a butcher knife or terrorist box cutter to do it with! Virtually all online payment services are available. Due to increases in fraudulent PayPal transactions and resultant chargebacks, items paid for through PayPal will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. I generally always ship on the date I receive cleared funds or within one day thereafter. Personal checks require a hold of ten business days for clearance. All domestic sales must be paid for within seven days of an auction's end. If you do not pay online, and your mail service as a sender is slow, don't bother bidding!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FOR BIDDERS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES: Uninsured Airmail Letter Post is used for international shipping due to its popularity. Rates are as follows: Canada, Mexico, and Caribbean $5.00; South America $7.00; Europe $8.00; Asia, Africa, and Australia $9.00. Due to the high cost of related shipping, satisfaction is guaranteed on a money back basis exclusive of shipping costs. No guarantees can be made for safe delivery, or delivery at all, for that matter, for international shipments that are not sent by registered or insured mail. If you would like registered or insured mail, please e-mail me for rates. The charges stated for international transactions include the fee for a Certificate of Mailing, which is validated and canceled by the United States Postal Service and provides proof that I have mailed an article to you. Also included is a modest charge to cover the additional time and energy required for international transactions, such as correspondence, customs declarations, translations, etc. Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian are spoken. Shipping rates are not negotiable! I do not enjoy paying them any more than you do. Please consider when you bid that your shipping costs are part of your total purchase price. Surface mail outside the United States will not be considered. I do not want your record dragged along the ocean floor! Feedback on eBay can only be posted for 90 days. Transactions that involve surface mail have insufficient time during which problems can be resolved that might influence feedback either way. Cash (currency) is acceptable for international transactions but must be sent by registered mail unless otherwise mutually agreed upon. Virtually all online payment services are available. BidPay, now with lower rates, or international money orders are strongly recommended as means for payment. PayPal wilI be considered if a winning bidder is able to provide satisfaction that a PayPal payment is totally bona fide. Kindly bid assuming that PayPal will not be possible and do not be offended if a request to use PayPal is not granted. This policy provides protection for users as well but only in the sense of someone else's attempting to steal a user's identity. Recent chargebacks due to fraudulent transactions and the lack of any seller protection by PayPal with regard to international transactions has made such a policy necessary. I generally always ship on the date I receive cleared funds or within one day thereafter. All international sales must be paid for within fourteen days of an auction's end. No exceptions!
