           1969 PSYCHEDELIC UNDERGROUND FANTASIA!

                 A TASTE OF BLUES

                    SCHIZOFRENIA

\                                                                Sweden - Garageland - BF 634

RARE long long gone exact 2ndpress, from over 20 years ago, of MONSTER-rated 1969 BLUES-PSYCHEDELIC band that turned into the legendary hardpsych band, ASOKA ...

A Taste Of Blues may even be better than Asoka ...with no wear tracks, the blues injected psych original compositions hit immediately with a striking sound, while the album is centered on the side long title track Schizofrenia, an amazing hypnotic laced psychedelic workout with similarities to Germany's CAN at their peak...swirling buzzing head-trips overlayed by throbbing pulsating rhythms and steady drumming beats...

This magnificent album belongs to the pure underground psychedelic sixties cult classics of Sweden, in the direct vein of the German Krautrock scene. The title track on their album Schizofrenia is one whole side of repetitive voodoo rhythms (resembling the early style of Can) with eerie Farfisa organ tones (a la Richard Wright's early style circa 1967-68), and guitar playing successive solos. A spellbinding example of Swedish krautrock at its greatest!

In the know collectors rave about this Lp for good reason, and while the 2ndpress is certainly hard enough to find, the 42+ original on the small SSRLP 501 goes fore a fortune ($800+) ... Anyway, the remaining tracks are conventional blues-based with great psychy edges injected, The black American Don Washington provided the vocals that are eerily similar in style and delivery (less acid) to Malcolm Mooney, first CAN vocalist. The organist & drummer later played in the amazing Asoka.

  • * Don Washington - vocals
    * Rolf Fredenberg - guitars
    * Claes Ericsson - organ
  • * Robert Moller - bass
    * Patrik Erixson - drums
