Description
This amazing collection of 7 original Charlie Parker early 78's on DIAL came from an owner who had been in the music business. Amazingly, the best one, in terms of condition (Scrapple from Apple / Don't Blame Me) is signed by Charlie Parker in some kind of white pen or grease pencil. These were all recorded in the mid 1940's and also represent some of the earliest recordings capturing Miles Davis.
All of the records have moderate play on them, and I would visually grade the 14 sides as VG to VG+. They should all be good players. I only found one or two "feelable" marks on the 14 sides...one of them is at the beginning of Round About Midnight and less than 1/2" long. The Scrapple/Don't Blame me is nice....a strong VG+ with good gloss and minor scuffs...should be a great player. Also the Bongo Bop is quite nice as well.
All in all a great rare set capped off by a period signature of one of the greats.
