This auction is for two superb condition blues LPs from RBF Records, one from 1959 and the other from 1964. Compiled and edited by well-respected blues writer and promoter, Sam Charters, the first record was brought out to accompany his book, “The Country Blues”. It contains fourteen tracks from really early folk blues artists such as Blind Lemon Jefferson, Lonnie Johnson, Cannon’s Jug Stompers, Peg Leg Howell, Blind Willie McTell, the Memphis Jug Band, Blind Willie Johnson, Leroy Carr, Sleepy John Estes, Big Bill Broonzy, Bukka White, Tommy McClennan, Robert Johnson and Washboard Sam. Presented in a double-walled sleeve, Charters’ sleeve notes are located in the front section (along with a promotional RBF leaflet for forthcoming blues releases) with the record in the back section. The second record, the 1964 “sequel”, contains a further fourteen tracks from early blues artists, namely Texas Alexander, Peg Leg Howell, Henry Townsend, Eddie Kelly’s Washboard Band, Papa Charlie Jackson, Georgia Bill, Luke Jordan, Bo Carter, Charlie Lincoln, Bukka White, Blind Boy Fuller with Sonny Terry, Charlie Pickett, Brownsville Son Bonds and Big Maceo with Tampa Red. Presented in the same rigid cardboard double-walled sleeve. Absolutely essential. As stated before, both records are in very good condition, ideal for the discerning blues collector!
